So lets bring ol' Wes in - we actually need someone in midfield that the gaffer might actually pick

Nik @touchlinedrama
Gazzetta dello Sport report that PSG have tabled an offer of just €12m for out-of-favour Inter Milan star Wesley Sneijder and agreed terms.
If PSG manage to push this deal through they will get 28-year-old Wesley Sneijder for £9.6m. The agreed personal terms mean Sneijder would earn £100,400 per week at PSG.
(to think we almost shipped out a bucket-load on this lad, we'd have been paying 3 times what he's worth now)

That's good news , means we can now look at someone else ( a DM/Box-toBox).

yep. Ferguson was right to walk away from the deal in 2011. the money was too big. it never felt like a go-er did it.
i personally felt with sneijder there'd be a hangover period from his treble winning and world cup final season and that he'd struggle slightly and his stock would drop.
he might be a better signing as a 'veteran' type signing in his 30's for small/no money.

It does pose the question though, would you bid a cheeky 12mil and see if he's interested?
I think I'd leave it altogether as we currently have Kagz and Rooney who can play in the hole, plus we need a different type of player.

i reckon he'd be a better signing in a few years for someone as a vet. we've seen lots of class players hit a resurgance in their 30's, there may be no transfer fee and they might have the larsson effect. look at pirlo at juve.
you're right. we've got rooney and kagawa. we don't need sneids for the forseeable.

Depends on Anderson's fitness really. And Fletcher, he's looked way off it since he got back. Passing to all but a United shirt a lot of the time and a bit off the pace.
We're not going to be playing the young players in there, so Cleverley, Carrick and Kagawa are our only three reliable midfielders without those other two. Powell can play in some games but what if we need someone for Spurs away or Liverpool at home?
Sneijder for £ 12 million would be a bargain. And of course, everyone else (city) would not be pleased.

Why do we need Sneijder now, having signed Kagawa in the summer?

for the figures quoted, he would bring such quality into the squad

He plays in the same position that Kagawa and Rooney have been all season. They are both outstanding players, why should United pay another player that they don't need, over 100k per week
He can play out wide, like those two can, and our three other wingers do, but we have enough strength in depth for high quality players in those positions and should be buying much younger than Sneijder if its decided that they need to strengthen.
Where will he play and who will United drop in his place. He is not a central midfielder. A second striker or attacking mid at best. I do not doubt his quality, just whether he's needed on the wages he'd command, or not.
Having said all of that, how often has Fergie just gone out and got a freebie who he's always admired?

Because he's another player to come into the pecking order ahead of Giggs and Scholes. Which, as Sunday showed, can only be a positive thing.

I dont think we need him, rather give the minutes to Mr. Powell as well as figuring a way to assimilate Rooney and RVP on with Kagawa.
----------Carrick/ Cleverley----------- Valencia Kagawa Young/Welbeck -----------------Rooney -------------------RVP
