But would those youngsters offer the immediate goal threat that Fat-Lamps would?
It's moot anyway, I can't see him coming.

They certainly won't if they can't get any games.

Yeah I can't personally see it happening, there's a reason why Chelsea want rid, although at the moment its hard to see why they're want to shun that sort of experience but they're buying up some good youngsters right now which is something we should be doing, if not playing our youngsters that we already have.
Cleverley is starting to return some goals to his game now so maybe its time we start to play theres young lads and see what they can offer us. Powell is another one I see really contributing in the next year or 2.

let me ask you a question Jim and its the only thing that makes me think Fabio might not make it at LB for united and actually holds him back from securing that spot over evra and buttner is Fabio is right footed. Can a right footed player play LB at United? im not too sure i dont think it has happened in the last decade irwin silvestre fortune heinze evra this does not mean he wont make it in another position at united i think really he and raf should play right back and compete for the spot it would be healthy as they are brothers And please no one say P.Neville he was not a class left back Irwin was right footed mate, and he was the best left back I've seen both at United and in the prem league, ahead of both Evra and Cole. This is so true i cant believe my shit memory irwin used to take penalties and free kicks with his right foot cant believe i forgot that. I think its a bit obvious if you were lucky to watch irwin that he was ahead of cole in all aspects

can't say it with too much conviction but evra at his peak just edged out irwin for me. it's very close and although they played in the same position they were fairly different players, irwin was a more powerful type of player but evra at one point was like a total footballer, his game was almost flawless and he oozed class in everything he did.

If this was 2001, I'd be all over the prospect of this. It's 12 years too late. Frank made his bed, let him rot in MLS semi-obscurity.

Bit harsh on Lamps jim?
I know he plays for a horrible team but I've always thought of him as a model pro and a decent bloke. You can't lump him in with Cole and Terry.

Agreed he is a decent player but there is no logic to signing him, we have 2 30+ players that we are dying to finish simply because of age yet we are keen to sign me up, I just see the point in it, no denying he can do a decent enough job perhaps but then so can Giggs and Scholes.
Harsh to put him in with Cole and Terry granted but then the fans have given him a fair bit of stick over the years, would this not be a bit hypocritical of us to sign him then cheer him. I know I'd feel like that because I've been one of them, he does come across as a bit of a smarmy cunt so maybe that's it. I hope we don't sign him. He's 34 and we don't need another member of dads army clogging up the bench when the likes of Tunnicliffe or Powell could be sitting, granted other people will have diff views on it but that's mine.

Already said it, but IF Giggs, Scholes and Rio all move on with their lives this Summer, Frank would bring in an extra experienced head along with RVP, Evra, Carrick, Vidic as the players over 30.
I'd still take him for two years.

I'd still take him for two years. I'd agree with that. If Lampard came on board, he'd be a good addition to our squad. Two or three years? For sure. Premier League and Champions League, been there- done that. Who he happened to play for, previous history etc doesn't really come into it for me.
