Never tire of seeing this... www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33982195On this day 20 years ago, Match of the Day pundit Alan Hansen criticised then-Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson with a comment that went down in football folklore. Hansen was speaking after Ferguson's young side lost 3-1 to Aston Villa on the opening day of the 1995-96 season. United went on to win the Premier League and FA Cup that season.

Mahalo Bro Rat, a great post and an excellent reminder of what United can accomplish at a time when things might look a bit "dire" and a group of young players makes a decision to work together and play for the badge. Roll on this season, and roll over the toonies!

Roll on this season, and roll over the toonies!Mahalo Gramps...it is a weird thing...I am disappointed that Pedro isn't coming and still feel that we need a signing or two but if we don't get anyone then I am quite excited to see whether Pereira can get a run of games, not to mention Januzaj and Wilson...things may not be so black after all [caveat - I know that the Class of '92 was a one off but we still have some talented kids around...]

Mahalo Bro Rat, a great post and an excellent reminder of what United can accomplish at a time when things might look a bit "dire" and a group of young players makes a decision to work together and play for the badge. No one knows how well they will handle the Premiership. Otamendi might, but looking at Pedro, could see him sissying right out first time someone clatters his ass. Bottom line, they are now the enemy and all this whinging about them being at another club is like pissing into a floor fan. Shaw, Smalling, Blind, Darmian -- Kicking ass, clean sheets first 3 matches, take away a double deflection. Morgan, quietly exerting his will on everyone that thinks they will move through the middle he has OWNED to date. Bastie, working towards full fitness, and calmly establishing himself as a great leader, and reminding people why his personal trophy case carries more silver than a lot of clubs that have been playing for 50+ years. Herrera, Mata, Memphis, exciting, ass kickers. Seems to me it has been a long time since a United team is showing the potential to just be electric in their style of play. Jeebus, that first goal of Memphis, that touch to put it on his head , making defender miss, then picking up his own bump and going through 5 fooking opponents and whipping that sucker into the bottom corner..how many players have you seen at 21 that had that kind of inventiveness and skill ?? That whole line, Ander, Memphis and Juan QUALITY. Add to that, this team is freekin DEEP. Hard for me to understand why fans would be talking of what bad things could happen, when so far things have been looking pretty damn positive, and considering that it is only 3 matches in, there is little doubt in my mind it will get better and better and better with each match . There is no doubt that these players have the United attitude. Just think of Memphis, a brilliant brace, and goes in and sits on the floor in press room pissed off that he didn't get 4 Win, lose or draw, I KNOW for a fact that I am going to enjoy every match this season, because there is no doubt in my mind that these players will leave everything they have out on the pitch in every game they play. As a fan, I sure as hell would feel like a muppet if I didn't appreciate, and applaud that.

In 1994 we beat Spurs away 1-0 thanks to a Mark Hughes goal. In 1995 we drew 1-1 away to Newcastle with Hughes bagging the goal. And in 2005 a young Wayne Rooney bagged his first Manchester United goal against Liverpool - also away: In 2 of the 3 Premier League seasons we have played on 15/01 we haven't won the league! Pity SET, the bloody FA blocked this video, can you get another one?
