Just watched day five highlights of the India v England test from Chennai, watched most of it since last week. Utterly brilliant, Jimmy Anderson’s over to remove Gill and Rahane was probably the best bit of reverse swing bowling I’ve seen since Bob Massey did a number on England at Headingley in the 70’s

Jimmy Anderson is a freak. 38 years old and in the form of his life. I always felt a little sorry for Broad, who is and has been a great bowler too, but always overshadowed by Jimmy. A touch of the Colin Jackson/Tony Jarrett's about them.

Think the selectors may give him (Broad) a turn in the next test at the weekend as he bowled really well in Sri-Lankai,and they’re resting/rotating players,so he’ll be fresh.

Anyone seen that stat about pre-30 Jimmy Anderson and post-30 Jimmy Anderson? Both in the top 10 for wickets taken by seam bowlers. And post 30 Jimmy isn't far behind Broad's actual total

Anderson is only 8 wickets behind Kumble now, so will be 3rd behind Mura and Warne pretty soon for all time records. And Broad is only 2 wickets behind Walsh so will be up to 6th. Imagine being the 6th highest wicket taker of all time but being overshadowed by a team mate. With Cook 5th on the all time run scorer list too, it really has been a purple period for English cricket (and Root will soar up the list if he keeps going like he has, he's 25th currently but no one above him still playing).

Lawrence needs to get a big score here.
He won't.

Great afternoon of cricket. Would have pissed that by the end if Roy and Bairstow had out a few runs on between them at the start

I was hugely sceptical of The Hundred from the moment it was meant to be a thing, basically assumed it was a massive waste of time.
But I've been hooked since it has actually started, went to the Originals game v Birmingham at OT and going to the game next Thursday v Southern Brave. But watched almost every other game on TV. Can tell neither me or my flatmate are in a relationship when we can have cricket on TV every night 😂
Actually think it's gone down really well as a group then knock out competition

Anyone known why there isn't a franchise based in Bristol, big city with an established Cricket heritage.

I think that was a factor in deciding where the teams were based. Plus, it doesn't really do well there. It's a much bigger rugby town now.

Did the city's have to bid for a franchise, I wondered if that had anything to do with it? As a large sporting City, just seems a bit odd,two football clubs,Rugby as you say & Glos CCC have a decent following. Also Somerset just down the road, can't imagine anyone who follows Glos or Somerset are going to over the bridge to Cardiff to follow the Fire.

Just for internationals though, all the County games I went to there were tiny capacities, even for 20/20.

How good is Joe Root at the moment?
Unbelievable year he's having, especially considering how poorly the rest of the side has generally performed.
Over 9,000 test runs from him now, he's actually ahead of where Tendulkar was after the same number of tests.
Still certain we'll lose the Ashes but in this form at least he gives England some kind of fighting chance.
