I am surprised Dhoni has retired from Test cricket altogether actually. Captaincy, yeah you could see, but I still think he could contribute at Test level.

He could see the focus and sentiment shifting towards Kohli & probably knew that his position in the team would have been in jeopardy once he would have given up captaincy. Also, there have not been many wicketkeeper captains with the same amount of burden that Dhoni had to endure. It is more taxing on the mind than on the body. I think it was a smart decision.
Yeah, Kohli still has a lot to learn, but every captain is not absolutely matured while taking over the reins. He will learn & prosper. After all he was the captain of the U-19 side that won the world cup

My concern is not about MSD retiring, I think its a wise decision too but who is going to replace him? With MSD I know India is not going to do well in overseas but I can be confident that we will surely win the series at home, I just dont want some immature new captain to spoil our home record. No no no, that home record is not going nowhere.

He has only played 30 odd test matches. If Gambhir plays well in domestic games, I would certainly like to see him instead of Dhawan and captaining the side for some time. It might sound stupid but I really rate Gambhir highly as a captain.

Agree about Gambhir. He would be a good captain, but he has to first play his way back into the team before we can think about captaincy. There are no doubts about Kohli's future, he is & will be a class act. There are few question marks over his temper, but he will mature with age. Ganguly was quite hot headed too, but was one of the best captains.
Dhoni handed given over the captaincy when he was quite young too. Ideal time to hand over the captaincy to Kohli would have been 1-2 years from now, when he would have been a complete finished product. But, I am quite sure he will be able to manage it.

He was the guy who comes and finishes the innings, most of the time he may not have enough overs or enough runs to score a century.

Probably would have scored a lot more, if he was playing for a team like Australia or NZ, where the tail gives doesnt give up hopelessly.

Australia looking really strong in home conditions. Indians proving to be easy meat in Australian conditions, where the WC is to be held. Their World Cup hopes looks dim. Semis prediction - Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and India.
AB de Villiers was an absolute treat to watch. Century in 31 balls!! Just love him

If India cant win this World Cup, I would like South Africa to win it. Always felt bad for them when they got knocked out.

Today there are some positives for the Indian team but overall this tour has been a disappointed and I have no hope that India will win this World Cup. I don't think India will reach the Semis, going by the current form.

Today there are some positives for the Indian team but overall this tour has been a disappointed and I have no hope that India will win this World Cup. I don't think India will reach the Semis, going by the current form. Yup, it has been a dismal tour. But, nothing can be ruled out given the format of the WC. You need to play 3 solid games to win the WC. The preliminary stages consist of 3 minnows in each group, which should make it easier for more established teams to reach the quarters. The 8 teams should be Aus, SA, NZ, Ind, Pak, SL, WI and England, unless Bangladesh manage to upset the applecart. from thereon, the team that plays 3 solid games wins the WC. Easier said than done, but we have seen rank outsiders win the cup. (Read: 1983-India, 1992-Pakistan, 1996-SL). WC wins by Windies in the 70s and hat-trick of wins by the all conquering Aussies were not unexpected though. As usual Aussies remain firm favorites this time especially on their home turf.
