This Leroy Fer seems like a beast, but his passing game isn't all that great (judging by youtbe videos). He was considered good for Everton - is he good enough for us though? Hope it isn't just a cheap alternative that we might regret....Why is Strootman ahead of him in the dutch side - if he's so overrated??? Haven't seen them play and I am just wondering... They look quite different to me, whenever I've watched Strootman he seems to make interceptions higher up the pitch, not seen him go in for many sliding tackles. Fer looks the opposite, sitting deeper and happy to get properly stuck in, proper box to box. Out of the two's playing style I'd prefer Fer's, so maybe if Strootman could play that role it'd be ideal. He has had Van Bommel doing his dirty work next to him this season and has been part of a 4-3-3 so I'm guessing that's why he's played more advanced. I still think it'll be Strootman who joins but we'll see, lets see if tatty's source has any credibility!

@ Ferg - I know, I know. I agree with you!
But seeing as we haven't invested in our midfield since before the recession I have crippling paranoia that even if we did sign someone, it would only be one.
Put it this way, if we came out later today and announced we were signing Matic (or someone like), suddenly you'd see me a lot more whoopdy at this prospect and reservations be damned. While there is still a possibility of a single midfield signing, I will keep looking at the negatives for every player who isn't the type we desperately, desperately need.

Well that City element doesn't bode well, does it?

No it doesn't to be honest. The only shining light I 'think' is that De Gea is supposed to be his best mate isn't he?!?

No idea rene. If Moyes really wants him, then I hope Spanish Dave can pull some strings.

Can't recall offhand were I read it but the Berties have been sussing out Thiago for a while. They're going to throw money at it again this summer. Predictable really.

Right. See, this is what was needed to get me on board. He's a good player, that much is obvious. Wouldn't want to miss out on him if he is moving, and it looks like he probably is.
(But, uh, please, please, please don't let it stop our midfield additions there. Please?)

He only has to look at the prestige of the club he's leaving, compare that to United and (pretty humorously) City to see where he should go.
Also, they have so many midfield options, he'd be a starter at United compared to City.
They have Toure, Garcia, Silva, Nasri, Rodwell, Barry, Milner who can all play centrally to some extent.
If he's well informed he'll make the right choice.

By the way, a couple of the red tops are saying Dortmund are also in for Thiago.

By the way, a couple of the red tops are saying Dortmund are also in for Thiago. Can see that happening along with Erikson to replace Gotze, plus they'd not mind inserting the re-purchase option Barca love so much.

id love a silky spanish player, a lot of people on here arent keen but for me i want to see someone passing the ball around well and going at players. we need more exciting players because at the moment we dont really have any. i want someone playing neat one-twos through the midfield and unlocking defences
typical city though theyre just wannabe barca. if both ourselves and city are in for him, if he has anything about him he will join us, if he doesnt then happily go to the whores. RVP for example.

RVP for example. Totally, If he wants to simply prove himself and head home in 4/5 years (Cesc Fiberglass) he can also go elsewhere. If this is his big career move and he wants to play for a club on par with Barca then United is the only choice. RVP, however, was a huge exception in modern times.

if city and more especially the former barca boys want him then he will go to city. we have a good history with dutch players in recent years, and we have rvp, the top dutch player at the moment
