If Rooney actually is going to leave he shouldn't be anywhere near the ground on Sunday. It's a special occasion where we should all be celebrating everything the gaffer's done for us. It shouldn't be spoiled because of that twat.

yea , good idea , would do that some time , but still Bestie it never will be the same and for guys like me who don't live in or near OT or who can't just like that travel if they wished for-- This is like a bloody body blow that just sucks all the wind out of you , you know. Not done a iota of work today. Plans remain the same, still though. BTW you sent the letter to United's office or mail to him ( no Idea here) or whatHere ya go: www.manutd.com/en/Club/FAQs/Contacting-the-players-or-manager/Question-2.aspx Thank You SET.

It's been estimated that Ferguson gets through about 10 sticks of chewing gum per match, which means that - over the course of his tenure at Man Utd - he's chewed enough sticks to stretch twice around the Old Trafford pitch.
Gonna miss you Fergie!

The Fact that RAWK and Blue Moon are in Meltdown over his retirement pretty much sums up what he has achieved. The Highlight of the season for them is SAF Retiring and in that making them think that they now have a chance of winning Trophies as we Decline or keep changing managers.

sorry if it's been mentioned, this is a hard thread to read, but all the Nandos restaurants in Manchester stayed open for 5 extra minutes last night in tribute. how good is that

Like everyone else was shocked that Sir Alex is going at the end of the season and watching Sky sports news yesterday showing all the highlights of his time there made me very emotional ...may sound daft but I lost my Dad last year and the highlights reminded me of watching those moments with him. Watching Eric score against Liverpool in the fa cup final in 96 when my dad (who worked in Liverpool and was the only United fan) jumping up and down shouting "they've won it they've won it" Waiting for hours in Salford after winning the cup winners cup in 91 to see the trophy only for the team to hurtle past in 30 seconds flat and then singing "Glory Glory Man United" at the top of our lungs driving home, the list could go on but we all have our memories. To Sir Alex I say thanks for everything you made moments in peoples lives that can never be forgotten, UNITED TILL I DIE Fantastic post. #thumb#

Literally every time I think of all the United moments I have watched with my dad, and friends, I well up. All of them were from Ferguson. The best moments and the worst moments.
Like last season, before the city game finished. I went upstairs and started rearranging empty water bottles just to avoid the end of the city game. Came downstairs after about 5 minutes and saw my dad just staring into space,
'city have scored. They've won the League. I can just tell by Lou Macari's face', he said. It was about 10 minutes later before either of us spoke again, I wandered into the other room, then he walked in and we just hugged for a few minutes. Still didn't say anything.
Then there was Fergie's face, etched with his determination to fight back. 'I won't be going away, they can be sure of that.', he said with a wry smile. That sticks with me. And then we've won the League straight back. Oh Christ.

This thread has been an emotional read, so many memories over the years but the one I'll never forget, as with the majority of United fans, was THAT moment in 99.
At that stage the fixture times weren't as global as these days and, as a young kid, I'd stayed up well after midnight, forcing myself to watch till the end with the heaviest of hearts. Needless to say I woke up the entire household, who had no fucking clue what had just happened. But I did, that was something I'll never forget.
The strange thing about the SAF era, pretty much the ever-present in my life through the fluctuations in every department, is it actually provided inspiration, a stirring reminder that there's always hope. I don't even know what I'm writing anymore to be honest, the man was more than just a football manager, he was a life coach, a guru of sorts.
Thanks Sir Alex, thank you for everything.

Great find Stew. You were right, it got me.
My mum collected all the newspapers the day after Princess Di died. Lots of people did the same for the Royal Wedding and other big events. I never understood this.
Until yesterday. Did anyone else go out and buy a load of newspapers that they plan of keeping?
