RVP
"I am really sad to hear that the manager is retiring," Van Persie said, speaking through his official Facebook account. "But I am really happy I have had the opportunity and the honour to work with him.
"He is a great manager and, above all, an even greater person. I have to thank him for an amazing year and for making my dream come true by winning the league.
"I wish him and his family the very best."

Poor RVP only got to spend 1 year with him, better than Zaha though.
I'd be so gutted if I was that close to working with him but didnt get to.

Great find Stew. You were right, it got me. My mum collected all the newspapers the day after Princess Di died. Lots of people did the same for the Royal Wedding and other big events. I never understood this. Until yesterday. Did anyone else go out and buy a load of newspapers that they plan of keeping? I did, people think im mad. great to see someone else thinks the same. I got the newspapers when we won the CL in 99 and 2008. Outside of football i got the papers from 9/11 and diana. Let them think we're mad. We're not mad, are we? No, no, no no. Not mad at all. We'll kill them all is what we'll do. Then we'll see who's mad. Mwaahahahahahaha. In all seriousness though, someone on my FB was complaining about the amount of coverage Sir Alex of Govan has got these past few days, and dared to utter the words I hate more than any others; It's only a game. I would kindly invite her to my place to see my salty tears trickle down my cheeks as I watch videos in homage to Fergie and see if she still thinks it's just a game. I will invite her to read this thread, and see if she still believes it's just a game. I would kindly invite to OT on Saturday (if SET would hurry up with that ticket) and see the outpouring of emotion in honour of one man, and ask her if she still believes it's just a game. It is more than just a game, and Sir Alexander Chapman Ferguson is more than just a manager. He is a legend, and deserves every fucking column inch and every fucking video montage he gets.

Bollocks. Just realised I wrote Saturday instead of Sunday. I'm not changing it though. It's more perfect because of its inaccuracies

I broke up with girlfriend yesterday. Somehow I think these are related... Did she find you consoling yourself in the arms of three prostitutes? Sorry, couldn't resist. Hope you're okay though.

Very nice idea. How would we go about organising this though?

great idea, let's make it happen. it's a relatively small forum so we could get a big card drawn up on with a small message from each contributer as well. if it's coming from a 'community' like a forum i reckon it's more likely to get through to him.
contact the club and ask for help?

simplest way i guess would be to nominate a top man from the forum, get the cash to him and have him deliver it to the club.
the only thing i wonder about is whether Ferguson would accept a consumable from an unknown person, i mean he's a high profile figure and there are nutters out there.
lets think of an alternative gift while we are at this.

Therefore no opportunity for foul play.
