mine and your definition of a major impact must be streets apart. if i'm describing a player who's made a major impact it's about a player who has turned/won games, or been integral to what the team is trying to do, and i don't think either applies here. Charity Shield?

yeah i was there, i was hoping he'd come on and he did well, but he didn't change the game by himself. we shouldn't have been 2 down in the 1st place and the team had a good 2nd half. he came on and was bright and passed the ball well

I take it you'd disagree with Fergie's assesment then Jim? "Revalation" too much for you?

We were fucking miles better when he was in the team than when he wasn't. That not enough of a major impact? You don't have to ping a ball 60 yards or put a screamer in the top corner to have a big impact on games.
We are not the same side without him.

We are not the same side without him. I don't know about that. It wasn't just him. Combo of him and Ando. When Cleverley played with Carrick later on in the season he looked average. Maybe he was just rusty though.

I'm not convinced with Cleverley's ability just yet because i haven't seen enough of him. Last season though he did make a difference to our midfield if only because he was the only one that had any legs on him and supported the play instead of hanging back like the others do.

What a ridiculous statement.

Also true. Having both Ando and Clevers on the pitch together gives us the legs and pace to play the pressing game. Last season, I'm sad to say we didn't have a midfield partnership that could cope with that, (besides these 2 together). Maybe with Shinji we'll have more possibilities. Dortmund pressed brilliantly but also played fast break and he was a key man in this. Would be interested to see a midfield 2 of him and Clevers.

I wouldn't. We would be murdered defensively.

What a ridiculous statement. how the fuck is it ridiculous? i might be right. i'm saying he might never be a fixture in the first team, not that he's a cunt or something i'd like to be wrong, if he ever becomes that player who plays all the time and in the big games i'll be pleased to be wrong. i've never actually written him off and i won't, i just have a doubt or two. i've got nothing against him at all, i think he can be a good player for the club. but from what i've seen so far i can see him being a squad player for the forseeable future. i think he's the most over-hyped player on this forum since i started posting on it. if i didn't know better i'd have thought i'm on an arsenal board talking about one of their young players

I suppose none of us can really be sure, though when he's in the form he was at the start of the season, he's just about our only midfielder (other than Ando, at times) that takes the initiative and instigates things going forward in terms of a pass & move methodology. His movement in particular is what sets him appart at the moment but I'm sure we're all on the same side in hoping he'll become a fantastic player.
Potential is there, just a matter of fulfilling it and, in terms of some people's expectations, exceeding them. I honesly hope he exceeds everyone's expectations, he just needs some major gametime on a consistent basis, big fan of his.

I honesly hope he exceeds everyone's expectations since most peoples expectations round here are sky high then he'd be some player if this happens
