EDIT : Seems alot of heat on this Ozil story, lots of newspaper running the story and many websites copy & pasting articles so may just be some truth in it... Would Ozil be our first German to play first team footy? I'm just can't think of a previous one??

Does anyone else miss 4-4-2? Simpler times, none of this behind the striker bullshit, just midfielders and forwards I agree, but it seems it's a little out of date. Or at least you have to have two insanely good midfilder to play it effectively.

Ron-Robert Zieler (Hannover's GK) played in the reserves for us and was on the bench for a Lge Cup game.

No. We missed the boat with Oezil but caught the plane with Kagawa. He must play behind van Persie as first choice.
Don't need Auld Googly-eyes.
That's the logic talking. But my football heart says YES PLEASE YES!!!

Hargreaves was part German or just grew up there. English parents, born in Canada, grew up in Germany if I remember correctly.

Look at Chelsea Bestie, they have Mata, Oscar & Hazard, all essentially able to fill the same role. Imagine having the pleasure of Ozil, Kagawa & Rooney behind RVP in some games, or being able to bring them on centrally when we're playing two wide players.
Anyone who says no to a player of Ozil's ability needs a reality check, especially given the creativity we lack and how thin the squad is in the middle. I don't think Ozil can only play "behind the striker" either. Modric would likely fit into what we need more but Ozil's absolute class.

The realist in me says no chance of something like this happening but when you look at Real’s transfer activity it does make you wonder. Isco has been brought in and he made big comments prior to signing about only joining a club where he plays regularly, hence rejecting City. He has to be a starter. With Ronaldo, Di Maria, Bale possibly, someone I reckon will have to leave.
Still think it’s very unlikely but what a signing it would be.

But, Mata, Oscar and Hazard do fit in the same team also. Difficult to accommodate Kags, Rooney and Ozil ahead of Carrick and behind RvP. Would warrant a complete change of formation. With these players Carrick will find it difficult to enter the opposition half as his defensive duties will increase However, seems an intriguing idea, if Kags, Roo and Ozil are able to play out of their preferred position. Carrick
Rooney - - - - Kags - - - - Ozil RvP
Attack would be awesome, but defense??
