The British media have already said that Levy tried to stop the Ozil to arsenal move, and that Madrid were having none of it. i cant help but feel this is nothing short of what Levy deserved. IMHO one major reason for this frenzied and unusual transfer window where a number of the top end clubs (Arsenal, Madrid, and maybe even us if Ed could have pulled his finger out) did big business on the deadline day is due to Spurs' handling of the Bale sale.

as we know the transfer window acts somewhat like a chain reaction when one big move frees up the selling club to move on for the next target, and the buying club feels more free to move on fringe players. If Spurs let Bale go earlier, i'd think Madrid would have let Ozil/Di Maria go earlier in the market too. and who knows what knock on effect those sales would have created for the buying clubs, and the market in general. with a full pre-season with Mardid Carlo may have seen a side to his team that would allow him to make tactical and/or further personnel changes.

by holding up this transfer, Levy was holding up at least 2 Top clubs, and the careers of 2 top players (at least). Perez's response.... Sell Ozil to the team that Levy most wants to depose, Arsenal. i may not like how Madrid operates at times, but i do give props to Perez for how he stuck it to Levy.

Its a proper "special" relationship that Spurs have with RM. RM unsettle then take Spurs` best player and then sell their main, hated local rivals, their 2nd best player! Gotta love friends like that.

I wonder if thats the end of their special relationship now they have acquired all their top players?
