I disgree that Fabio isn't United quality. If you rate Rafael then why not rate Fabio??...very similar players and as we all know, he was rated as the better of the twins when we got them. He just hasn't had a chance. Give him the chances that Buttner has had and then make a judgement... I am applying the highest standards mate. There is no way in hell is Fabio in the same quality bracket as Irwin,Nev,Parker etc. This is the UTD quality I mean. We need to get back to the days where we have the very best players.

We need to get back to the days where we have the very best players. So you don't rate Rafael either then? Mate there are some very distinctive differences between Fabio and Rafael, some of which can be gained irrespective of playing time. Just f.e. did you know that Rafael is 15 kg heavier then Fabio? That simply shows that while Rafael has been working out tirelessly in the gym, Fabio on the other hand simply failed to bulk up and you can't blame that to not having enough chances to play. One would expect the opposite - if a player is determined to prove his qualities and get a place in the team, you would at least expect him to first and foremost gather the advantages obtainable off the field (i.e. in the gym or fitness trainings) so he can place himself in contention. For a comparison, both Evra and Buttner are 10 kg ahead of Fabio, and the former is almost 10 years older. You shouldn't let yourself be so much behind your competition.

Don't forget Fabio went down to QPR and didn't tear any trees up there either.

That is a fair point and you may be right and maybe he isn't impressing during training but I still feel he should get a chance as he was no doubt talented when he arrived...so what are we doing to him / with him? I guess we will soon see when he goes to Cardiff.....and then try to buy him back in a couple of years....

As I said above, we will never know if he doesn't get a fair crack. He was generally seen as the more talented when they arrived so have we screwed him up? A lot of players didn't look so good playing for that QPR team...it was a seriously struggling team and it would have been hard for anyone to shine....in fact nobody did as far as I remember...

To be fair to Fabio you cant judge him on his spell at QPR. That team were so up there own arses and it was in a right mess. Fabio probably thought he was sent there as punishment. Even Old Harry said he could not believe how bad the dressing room was with really bad divisions amongst the squad and felt it was impossible getting them to play as a team quick enough to survive the PL, I think he may of even said that he told the chairman they would be lucky to win 2 games with this lot.

I take your points about Fabio and it is admirable that you guys want to give him a chance. My own opinion is we need established world class players to arrive into our club. LB is obviously a problem position and I don't think we have the time to give Fabio a chance and find out 12 months down the road he is not up to it. I think our situation has changed and we need high quality performers in every position to try and bridge the gap to Munich and city etc. Fabio would hardly get into any team in the top 6 or any of the big European sides. This is the standard we have to aim for. I will put a question out there. Would you guys be happy if Coentrao did not arrive now or the summer and we went with Fabio as first choice lb next season? I wouldn't.

In regards to Fabio being initially more talented than Rafael, it's commonly said that Phil was more talented than Gary but he didn't have the same career here that G Nev had.
I'd like to see Fabio be given more chances as well but it's apparent to me that Rafa has worked harder on his game. They were both mental when they were young. Rafael's discipline is now much improved and he doesn't lunge in anywhere near as much as he used to. The last time we saw Fabio, he ran about like a nutter for 5 minutes and got sent off. I think the biggest shame is that Smalling has been played at RB in Rafa's absence as opposed to Fabio. With two other left backs at the club I can understand chances there being slim, but with only Rafael as a right back and the amount of time he's spent injured, Fabio shouldn't have had such a mountain to climb to get in the team there.

The time before he was on the pitch for a short amount of time and scored.

Zaha will be loaned I honestly don't think they will sell him on moyes say so especially after paying 15 million, we won't recoup that. Anderson, sell, Nani sell, if we get a left back and center mid then pls sell cleverley and buttner. Fabio new contract and lain again until summer where he can come in and challenge with evra having left. Agree mate except for Fabio. Don't think he is good enough for Manchester United. I think we have tolerated these types of players far too long and this is why we have fallen behind city and chelski. For me Nani,Anderson,Cleverley,Buttner,Valencia,Fabio,Fellaini,Giggs,Ferdinand all have to go. That is 9 players we need to replace. Major surgery by any standards. I would try to this between now and the summer and maybe next January. mate to be fair i dont think fabio has been given a fair crack, i think he can come good and to be honest i think so for fellaini. technically he is poor just get him to sit and defend deep. the rest i agree get rid as they have been tolerated

So it seems Ando is first of the big clear out. Such an annual disappointment he was.
I find it ridiculous anyone suggesting Fellaini should be part of clear out. Even if he isn't the answer to our problems right now, we still need to build a midfield for the future. I know some naive fans fall into the trap of purely thinking in terms First XI (a thread such as this thrives on that), but we do still actually need a squad. We'll see better from Fellaini, I'm pretty sure of that. Especially when we get in someone who has more of the qualities we need to play alongside him.
On Fabio, maybe its the lack of his signature on a contract that's led to him being ostracised. Shame its gone that way, only a couple of years ago starting a CL final and being far more solid than Evra at that.

I cannot agree with that whatsoever.

I was talking about the final, I did put it in the same sentence.
