I think Coleman is an excellent full back and would be an improvement on any of the centre backs or wingers we have had to shoe horn into the right back slot. I take Bestie's point on board about the mediocrity of Everton, but of course we have seen time and again how football transfers defies conventional logic, with many examples at United.
Thinking nearly 17 years back now, we desperately needed a quality striker and finisher of class. Names such as Kluivert, Recoba and Shevchenko were being consistently linked and yet SAF plumps for Dwight Yorke, a striker with Premiership pedigree but very little European experience; a player who was signed for nothing from a country where football is very much a secondary sport; a player who carved a reputation for himself at a top 6 at best club. We all know what happened there.
The point is that sometimes, if the player's attitude is right and the talent is there, they can actually improve and raise their game with better players and coaches around them, and the end result is mutually beneficial, as it was in Yorke's case. I think this player has all the attributes. He is a good defender, he has pace, a good touch and is attacking; he knows how to play the position. At 80 grand he was a bloody steal and, although he is a distant, morbid memory now, credit to Moyes and his coaching team. I think he would be good signing.

I love Jonny, and think a few years ago he was really underrated, but he's been really poor since SAF left. If he helps us get Coleman so be it.

as much as bestie hates them, i think a move to everton would be good for evans. and if he helps us get coleman with not much fuss, what a parting gift it would be.
i'll always have a fondness for evans for that stealth karate kick on drogba
