I think the things that got the FBI and US legal system involved were the fact that meetings and corruption took place on US soil, involved US citizens (chuck blazer and some sports marketing people), resulted in the USA putting together a bid for the WC costing millions of dollars and also the fact that money was supposedly laundered through the USA financial system. Once they got sufficiently pissed off they got blazer for tax evasion and tax fraud and turned him on the rest. They then passed the evidence against the rest to the Swiss authorities to handle the arrests. The officials from the Americas have been extradited. Blatter will be insulated a couple of levels from this wrongdoing but ultimately somebody will roll on him and eventually the entire organisation will be disbanded/bankrupted. if I'm not mistaken fifa is a non-profit org in Switzerland. Switzerland was famous for its top secret banking sector! perfect place to hide bribes The big part here is "was". They recently have been co-operating with other nations as massive pressure was put on their banking system to become more transparent. It's nowhere near as secretive as before.

Correct, they have recently started cooperating with nations working on Black Money extradition. So, the element of secrecy is not certain anymore

Watching Press Pass in this. It's great. A US prosecutor says that if there's a money trail to Blatter he's probably had it. However if he just let everyone around him be corrupt for their own monetary gains in exchange for loyalty, that will be much harder to prove. He can still be done for that if he knew it was happening though.

He turns states evidence, they flip some of the lieutenants and use it to take down Don Sepp Blatter. Even if Blatter survives this, FIFA may not. We need to remember though, FIFA needs football, football does not need FIFA.

Interesting. Sepp was offered a professional football contract but his father wouldn't cosign. I also didn't realise that Sepp practically built FIFA. He was one of only 12 employees when he joined.

^ Visa hasn't asked for Blatter to resign, their statement only calls for 'changes' but they do not specify what those 'changes' should be. Blatter or the office of the president isn't mentioned anywhere in the statement.
as for why the US is leading this charge, apart from the bribes on US soil as was alluded to earlier, i also heard mention of using the US banking system to facilitate the payment of said bribes and kick-backs.

CONCACAF (as well as president of CONCACAF) is implicated and headquartered in miami, if im not mistaken. i believe FIFA may also have a north american HQ in the USA. it all stems from chuck blazer being caught out by the IRS and flipping to rat out the rest. don't be surprised to see at least one of these flip and the whole thing spiral out of control. while thinking about this earlier i couldn't come up with anything other than the overhaul of not only FIFA, but a lot of the other associations too. namely CONCACAF, CONMEBOL and CAF. if platini voted for Qatar, maybe even UEFA.

I can't wait for FIFA 16 to come out! I heard they are going to have a prison career mode, you have to build up your guy by working out and then you get to choose what gang you join. The brown envelope mode is supposed to be the most realistic yet.

The Russkies are now crying foul saying USA have been involved in an "illegal,extra-territorial implementation of American Law" Wonder if THEY have anything that they want to keep hidden under the rug? Russia-corruption? The very thought. well, I kinda, sorta agree. What place does the FBI have investigating an orginasiation that isn't even based in the US? Don't get me wrong, FIFA have had this coming but I'm not sure who decided the FBI should be involved Apparently if ANY suspected transaction/bribe etc,etc was paid in Dollars, they have a right/obligation under their financial currency laws to investigate.
