For some reason Blatter reminds me of Robert Mugabe...everyone knows he is bad but nobody appears to be able to do anything about it... ...and yeah, the sponsors could have a massive influence on this if they only had the balls...but perhaps they are implicated...how do you get a gig like the WC? Maybe by spreading a little dough to smooth the wheels... ...allegedly... He's quite the chum of beloved leader Mugabe. Here's the thing, there are 54 votes in Africa and 46 in Asia...all of those stupid fuckers are going to vote for the dictator and that is 100 votes out of 209...he regularly pumps money into these countries and THAT is how he does it...he used to get the votes from S. America but they are now in question...easy to pick up enough votes if you buy them... Also, what we see as corruption - bribes etc. - is normal practice in many of these countries so they don't see it the way we do... The only way to get this corrupt little tosser out will be through the law...he will never get voted out...

I'm not a fan of this Prince Ali bin al-Hussein either, to be fair. Seems odd Figo and van Praag would move aside to let this guy have a free run at Blatter. Jordan?! That powerhouse of global football, eh? This guy forced through changes in the rules to permit burkha's in woman's football. Not exactly what I want from the most powerful man in the game.
The best outcome is that Blatter wins today, and Platini actually follows through on his doomsday UEFA threat, as well as the likes of Visa and other FIFA sponsors showing some bollocks for a change. Then Blatter is either forced to resign or UEFA set up a new invitational World Cup/governing body and make Platini/Figo/somebody who actually has a clue about playing football professionally the head of it.

Similar to modern day politics where an individual gets into it with the best intentions, but is corrupted by the system, so too will any new head be swayed by the National Associations desire to continue the status quo. starting a new organisation with a completely clean slate will eliminate the need to change that culture, thus allowing you to set a culture from the beginning. it will take time to get that new organisation to the juggernaut that FIFA is commercially, but i dont see how to eliminate that mindset without going this way.

Even if they started a new FIFA, how are you going to remove all the current heads of FA in (nigh on) every country in the world? You can't just go around starting new FA's in every country too.

He's THE arch politician, almost ignoring Europe and, like you said,"investing" in Africa & Asia-where he's seen as almost a God-and he can buy all the votes he needs. The Feds have just announced this afternoon that they are charging 14 FIFA cronies, so the net is almost surely going to close around Blatter, and it (hopefully) won't be long until he's questioned and possibly charged. Pretty sure it's him that the authorities want most of all-bet the Feds have a pack of cards with him as the Ace of Spades!

Have to agree with bestie. Prince Ali was a pretty shit choice, sickens me that people like Dycke are going around sucking his wang. I know they want change but they need to realise that there is only one way to implement change and thats a total boycott. Blatter has the majority of FIFAs poor cousins in his back pocket. He has helped finance there associations and they all love him for it. Despite what you think of him he's a clever little cunt who knows he doesn't answer to UEFA. UEFA only have one card to play and I don't think they have the balls to go through with it. The next two world cups are being hosted by the most undeserving hosts you could imagine, one with the worst institutionalised racism you could imagine and the other is building stadiums on the back of slave labour pretty much. If they just carry on as usual then what the hell do UEFA actually stand for?. Without the European nations there is no world cup.

Don't get me wrong, you are right too, its just that the corrupt cunts arent going to leave the honeypot are they? At least if you put in a decent leader at fifa then all the associations would have to follow his word as they are already there. If they dont like it let them leave. That would be my thinking
