Just a suggestion that everyone who's interested/appalled by Blatter & FIFA visit their main sponsors,Budweiser/Visa/Adidas McDonald's etc on Twitter and voice their disgust,I have, and if enough people complain directly to them it adds fuel to the fire.

I'm not a fan of this Prince Ali bin al-Hussein either, to be fair. Seems odd Figo and van Praag would move aside to let this guy have a free run at Blatter. Jordan?! That powerhouse of global football, eh? This guy forced through changes in the rules to permit burkha's in woman's football. Not exactly what I want from the most powerful man in the game. The best outcome is that Blatter wins today, and Platini actually follows through on his doomsday UEFA threat, as well as the likes of Visa and other FIFA sponsors showing some bollocks for a change. Then Blatter is either forced to resign or UEFA set up a new invitational World Cup/governing body and make Platini/Figo/somebody who actually has a clue about playing football professionally the head of it. Probably they knew that Blatter is assured of atleast 1/3rd (if not 1/2) of the votes. If they had not moved aside, it would have cannibalized Ali's slightest chance of winning by splitting up the remaining 2/3 into 3 parts (Figo, Praag, Ali), thereby helping Blatter's cause. I got that bit. I meant why couldn't, this Prince bloke step down with van Praag and tell every FA that was going to vote for him to vote for Figo. The only viable cnadidate who has played the game, pretty much at any level above park football.

Well played Dave, well played Any professional worth his salt can't just close his eyes and imagine it didn't happen. David Gil has positions high in the FA and UEFA and he really doesn't need this bollocks. I'm surprised sponsors are hanging around.

With the prince they could at least show that they were prepared to work with a non-european president, and therefore give the impression that it wasn't all about them.

It would seem that Blatter has set his face against Europe in his speech earlier, commenting on the "hate" that's been levelled at him. Let's hope UEFA respond in kind by telling both him and FIFA to fuck the fuck off. On the same subject, did anyone see him at the congress earlier surrounded by his African and Asian fanboys? You'd be hard-pressed to make this shit up.

I think the FIFA election has basically proved just how much opinion differ on the matter of corruption from East to West. We all know corruption is part of daily life in most African countries and its rife in parts of Asia. Its unacceptable for the next two World Cups to have such a cloud of corruption hanging over them.

Its unacceptable for the next two World Cups to have such a cloud of corruption hanging over them. So that's why we (UEFA) should boycott them-as a stand against (alleged) corruption-sure FIFA and, more importantly, their sponsors would sit-up and take notice if we did. FIFA would have nowhere to turn (money-wise) if their main sponsors dropped them-they're all sure to have some sort of "morality clause" inserted into their contracts-and the argument (this week) that other sponsors would step in to fill the void would seem to be redundant, who would (willingly) associate themselves with an (allegedly) corrupt organisation such as them? It's all about image and positive brand projection with those companies, just wouldn't sit right with them. UEFA are meeting before the Champs League final,it would be VERY interesting to be a fly on the wall while that's going on!

If UEFA were serious about boycotting FIFA they would have made it quite clear thats what would have happened had the leech been elected again. UEFA hold all the cards in this argument. The clubs and associations they represent control the vast majority of the worlds best players but they act like kittens in the face of FIFA. They turned up to the FIFA congress before Christmas and were basically told they have to play a winter world cup and lump it. UEFA could have easily refused and the other european leagues would have backed them up on that one then FIFA would have been in a hopeless position. Instead they folded. I don't expect UEFA to react in any meaningful way.

Yep,agree with most of that, but not sure that they'll do nothing-far too much has happened this week for them to ignore-if they don't,and then fall into line, their reputation will be as shot as FIFA's As to the next World Cups it will be interesting to see how the Swiss investigation goes-NOT holding my breath though!

See a few of our banks are now making "enquiries" into whether or not "inappropriate" money laundering-type payments have been made to FIFA officials. For that read:"We're cleaning our own houses before the Feds fuck us up again"
