Reading a few reports that's he's hanging on for United talks before taking the spuds job.
He's got a good record but he's never managed in the premier league or at a club the size of Manchester United.

Apparently Joel Glazer met with him this week.

There are things I like about Van Gaal and there are things that would worry me. His second spell at Barcelona was a disaster and he had barcelona hanging around the relegation zone for a while. He done a good job at Bayern initially but it went sour very quickly but this isn't uncommon among the top clubs in europe especially when you have to contend with so many egos associated with those big clubs. If you want very offensive football with about zero attention to the defensive side of your game then he's your man. I wouldn't be sure he is the right man for this job though. Experience isn't everything folks, ideas are more important.

Apparently this is in pretty much every Dutch paper today and not just tabloids. He'd certainly improve us. The fact he's hasn't managed in England is an irrelevance. Moyes had 11 years at Everton and that's worked a treat eh?

The fact is, apart from Real he's managed the only other clubs that ARE as big as Utd.

Maybe a holding job til Klopp becomes available?

Not working in England means nothing at all. Mourinho came in to the PL and hit the ground running straight away. I would prefer Klopp but he is going to Barca apparently. Van Gall would need time to implement his attacking philosophy. I think him going to the World cup poses a problem as he wouldn't start work till mid/late July and with the overhaul needed this is far from ideal. Im sitting on the fence on this one.

I would think the odds of him staying now are getting longer by the minute. Once the owners start meeting with alternatives you're a dead man walking. Personally I think the decision to get rid was probably taken the weekend of the Liverpool game. Apparently Joel Glazer was over for a sponsors conference on the Saturday. Some key sponsors then sat through the Liverpool humiliation. That must have been uncomfortable for Glazer.
