Reading a few reports that's he's hanging on for United talks before taking the spuds job. He's got a good record but he's never managed in the premier league or at a club the size of Manchester United.1997–2000 Barcelona2000–2002 Netherlands 2002–2003 Barcelona2009–2011 Bayern Munich I admire your putting us above those clubs but they're a high enough level for me to say he has relevant experience. It was tongue in cheek

Lesser chance of Simeone than Klopp. The former is in the midst of something historic and with ban for Barca, he must fancy his chances next season, surely?
Obviously Van Haal is a proven top level manager with pedigree but certain aspects of him makes me twitchy. However, when the alternative is to stick with DM, no brainer.
His disregard at times for defending will cost a few silly points and esp in the big games but how many teams will be able to cope with our attacking quartet playing offensive football? The pros far outweigh the cons & a 2-3 year deal will be ideal.

All these scenarios only after we actually have moved heaven and earth to get THE ONE. Does Klopp know many United fans idolize him as much as Dortmund? Hope he has an epiphany or someone does an inception shit

As least in Signal Iduna Park, they chant his name, , and surprisingly they have recently started chanting Kagawa also. . I would love hearing those two chants at OT though. Louis Van Gaal will be a bad project I think, that man is extreme arrogant, that's why he fell out with Bayern Munich.

I dont think the majority are saying Van Gaal is the perfect fit for us, but Im confident we wont be sitting 7th in the PL, but pushing at the top. I also think the days of DD's awful tactics and defensive play will be long gone. So thats enough for me to vote Van Gaal in if Klopp is out.

Is being arrogant or authoritarian such a bad thing though? Sir Alex was no saint either. We need a manager who will command respect and get the entire team in line. He is the only readily available one to get us out of this current mess. Also, apparently, Van Haal wants to bring in De Boer as No 2 and that's a fantastic combo you have right there.
As mentioned earlier, he is not my preferred choice either. Should we fail to hire candidates from a say, A list, then move for LVH. Bottom line is do what is necessary to boot DM out and ensure the shambles of last summer is not repeated.

Reading a few reports that's he's hanging on for United talks before taking the spuds job. He's got a good record but he's never managed in the premier league or at a club the size of Manchester United. I am at a loss to see what this has to do with his ability as a manager, it is totally irrelevant in my opinion. In fact, 'premier league experience' was the dubious justification given to us for Moyes's appointment. If the sheer amount of games managed somehow enhances a manager's ability the likes of Big Sam, Martin O'Neil, Brucie and Sparky would all be in line for the top jobs. Mourinho did not have a single premier league game in his locker... but he won the thing, same goes for Wenger. A great manager will be able to adapt to any league, irrespective of where it is. And speaking of adaptability, just look at LVG's record and WHERE he has achieved success. Holland, Spain, Germany. The man is a TOP coach with a world class track record, footballing philosophy and clear tactical vision of how he wants his teams to play. Much has been written about the 'United Way' being rooted in 'loyalty, longevity and stability', watch any of Van Gaal's teams and you will see a way of playing football that represents our history and tradition as much as any romantic notion or ideal, where it matters, on the pitch. They play with flair, verve and an attacking abandon which we have starved of, instead being served up circumspect shite which is the very antithesis of 'the United Way'. If anyone wants to see why Van Gaal should be our boss, watch the two absolutely pulsating matches we played against his Barcalona team in 1999, on the way to the Treble. The match at the Nou Camp, which I had the privilege of being at, was one whose beauty just cannot be put into words. And both teams contributed to one of the most electrifying displays of attacking football ever witnessed. That is why LVG has to be our new manager, so Glazers get your head out of your arses and give him the job before the bastard Levy does. EDIT: That is IF Klopp or Simeone is out of reach

All the greats have an arrogance about them which stems from the unshakable belief they are right. How long did it take SAF to admit he had made a 'huge' error selling Jaap? I would rather have arrogance than the mealy mouthed bullshit we have have to endure this season, all the 'hopefullys' and 'eventuallys' and 'we must take each game as it comes'.

Most people on this board have wanted Klopp to take over from Fergie or had him in their top 2. However for a variety of reasons he might nog be available right now so a manager like Van Gaal makes sense. Personally I'd throw whatever it takes to get Klopp here.

From the Sunday People:
Job-hunting Louis van Gaal is waiting for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to commit his future to the Emirates before deciding on his own next move, writes Steve Bates in the Sunday People.
The Holland national side boss was in line to take over from Tim Sherwood at Tottenham in the summer. But Van Gaal is hedging his bets in case Wenger goes.
Old Trafford is another potential Premier League berth for Van Gaal – as revealed in People Sport – although Manchester United insist they are sticking with David Moyes.
On Saturday, the Reds dismissed reports from Holland that Van Gaal had held talks with chief executive Ed Woodward.
A United spokesman said: ”No such meeting took place.”
Privately, they believe the Dutchman, who will leave his Holland job after the World Cup, is using them as a stalking horse ahead of negotiations with Spurs.
Van Gaal’s clear interest if the Gunners' top job becomes available is more evidence that he is keeping all his options open.
The 62-year-old former Barcelona, Bayern and Ajax coach wants his next job to be in English football and is said to have already met Spurs supremo Daniel Levy.

I saw this and thought that the guy needs to keep his options open if this report is true of course. At the end of the day until DD is sacked then United are not an option so he will be looking at all possibilities. I would say being linked with 3 premiership clubs is a nailed on that he is at least coming to England. It's just a case of who now. Could be wrong of course, the same paper reported he had talks with us not 24hrs before this report. Im happy for several managers to be linked to United, that puts a doubt in DD mind at least.

I would rather have arrogance than the mealy mouthed bullshit we have have to endure this season, all the 'hopefullys' and 'eventuallys' and 'we must take each game as it comes'. I call it confidence, swagger, arrogance has a negative influence or results to it. There is a fine line between these. An example of arrogance would be to decimate a tried and tested coaching setup and bring in clowns who you feel are up to the job simply because you have worked them before. This, more than a Mourinho insisting he is the centre of attention or an opiniated Van Gaal, is the kind of arrogance that has a far more negative influence on the team.
