"Press Association Sport understands United are surprised by the reports and are insisting no such meeting took place" Oh really? It's all part of the continuing myth that Utd are in every way better than other clubs. We give our managers time, don't sound out others yada yada yada. But it's all just hearsay atm.

It's the hope that kills you, if any of it's true, lets pray they keep Woodward the fuck away from any negotiations

Im sure the club are considering there options how would they not after this season. The reality is this club has to be in the CL for financial reasons and footballing reasons, so do the Glaziers put faith in a man who's overseen a huge collapse or cut there loses and take some financial pain (because Moyes won't resign) and get someone with a track record at this level.

Interesting scenario. He has a similar win ratio to Fergie but based on only 25% of the number of games. He is a prickly character. His story with Bayern was bizarre. He won everything then next season failed to get to the third spot and was sacked only three months after the BM board had offered him an extended contract. His football was not terribly attractive in the failed season at Bayern. Klopp wiped the floor with him. Perhaps director of football? Age, prior poor performances, and his aloofness might not sit well with the OT board. Is he a two year man - maybe - but alas he wouldn't be in my top five choices.

The more I think about it the more I don't want him.

The financial pain would be a lot lesser if they paid him up, rather than giving him 200 mil to spunk, add another shocker of a season and the shares drop again. No idea what the pay-off would be, but i'd top end estimate 10-15 mil, offset that against 200 mil wasted, potential share drop of anywhere from 50-500 mil!!! (already dropped 150 mil?), and that compo payment looks like peanuts

I don't care if he is a 2 year man, even 1 would do if it got us shot of Dave

The MUFC website has been quite pallid since Wednesday. I think OT is stunned as the reality of nothing and nowhere begins to hit home. But, I don't think they will make a panic decision, why oust Moyes just for another maybe candidate? Failure has a strange way of fleshing out and it's not always so obvious. A lot will hang on the end of season, the World Cup and Europa. The World Cup is a major game changer for players and managers.

The more I think about it the more I don't want him. Same, kind of. Smacks of the same problem we had last summer. Moyes was available for cheap, so we got him. Van Gaal is out of a job post-World Cup, so will be cheap. We need to spend whatever it takes to convince Klopp to come here.

He would certainly be a huge improvement on this pretender we have as a manager. Even if it's just a stop gap until Klopp or Simeone come here. Or until Jose is pissed off with Roman again.
Last summer we had a chance to install Jose, who in my opinion is the only man who can/could come close to eclipsing Fergie. Sadly Fergie made the biggest mistake of his career by overlooking Jose.
The fact I am so fucking excited by some vague rumors of Van Gaal (who isn't top 3 on my wishlist) is a damning indictment for DD an what he has done to our club and all of us who love United (even the deluded top redz).
