I've never seen him play only read reports in newspapers or on t'internet. Whats he like, as in how does he play and what are his main attributes/areas that need improvement? And is he worth 37 million? I've seen both de Jong and Vidal in action so I can say that I feel they'd both be an improvement on what we've got.

Mirror says we're in for him. 6 million. I didn't realise he was only 29, thought he was much older.

He's a cock, but would certainly toughen it up in there

He's a cock, but would certainly toughen it up in there I have to agree. He's been fantastic in both games for Holland so far. And he's mobile, something we badly need in the middle. I'm a lot less anti this move than I was a few weeks ago put it that way.

For the price quoted, It's a no-brainer for me. No more fucking waltzing through our mid like nobody is there. Him and Toure in a 50-50 would cause an earthquake

Him in a United shirt would give me a brain hemorrhage. NO.

Him in a United shirt would give me a brain hemorrhage. NO. Why exactly? I've never given him much thought to be honest.

Him in a United shirt would give me a brain hemorrhage. NO. And City, Liverpool, even Cardiff, West Brom walking through our midfield didn't give you a brain hemorrhage?

The thing for me is that's it's become crystal clear we aren't signing a top class midfielder. Kroos, Cesc, Carvalho, I don see any of them coming in so he'd be a decent enough alternative

That's not the age to buy players from if we are looking to build a stable squad for the next 5 years. He will run out of steam in another 2-3 and we'll be back in the market looking for a replacement. The role he has to play for us means that he needs to be at peak physical conditioning which he will not be in another 1 year when his body starts to lose strength. Looking great for two games at the world cup is a time honored "put yourself up in the shop window" tradition. It rarely ends well and for us it almost never has. Remember Poborsky? It just doesn't make sense. It makes sense for me at least if you invest in an up and comer instead of 29 year old. Oh and not to mention, he is an absolute tool.

There is a difference between getting into an accident and committing suicide. Signing De Jong now is a stupid move.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying De Jong is the answer. He's a lot better than nothing. He's also played at a high level for countless years, these two games at the WC are hardly like an unknown Algerian we take a punt on after playing one good game.

De Jong in a 3 man CM only with 2 other creative players. Then maybe.
