Yeah i watched with an open mind. I have to admit i think we need him (or similar). I know people are saying he's too old at 29, but we would still get in my opinion 3-4 good years out of him and I also think we need someone of this age and experience to help balance the team and help nurture a younger more promising player like Strootman/Carvhalo.
£6mil (someone quoted) for 3-4 years is a good return.

TBH I'm surprised we didn't get him - especially with Van Ginkel going there on loan - even though he's ex-Blue he's exactly the sort of player we've missed since Keano left
We just don't scare the opposition anymore
People say he's an animal but his red card record is actually excellent - not been sent off for about 6 years IIRC
Opportunity missed IMO - £6-10M would have been well spent

I'm prepared for the abuse but I think we should buy him. Hard as nails, gets about the pitch and can play ball too. Showed his class tonight against Spain, he dominated the midfield. He's something we've been missing in midfield, a real presence. Discuss.......(or shoot me down) I don't rate De Jong at all. After his rib-tickler kick in the 2010 World Cup he should have joined half-cocked cunts like Suarez in the permanently banned club.

Ooh ahh Cantona kicked a mouthy person in the crowd - a bit different. Even Keane's hit on Haaland wasn't that bad (it's been reported that tackle ended Haaland's career but it was the other knee Keane hit). I think Keane was 10X the footballer DeJong ever was, to start with, and I think Keane got an appropriate ban.

I always remind people that it wasn't the knee that ended his career but blimey I still cringe when I see it.

I'd still take him. Just to destroy the likes of Cattermole and Shelvey.

I'd still take him. Just to destroy the likes of Cattermole and Shelvey. Shelvey! That goon is one of the most reckless players I've ever seen, just a loose cannon waiting to crash into someone and end their career. Shelvey is right there with Mascherano as a rabid dog with only nasty fouls in their repertoire.
