Of course the media and ABUs will pile on. We spent a lot of money on the boy and they'll give us shit any chance they get. That said... - Looked pure class when he first got here - Has suffered a pretty traumatic personal experience - Has been played out of position - Has been stifled by the overly defensive mindset of the team and lack of movement up front
Have we so quickly forgotten the Champions League final motm who repeatedly set up Ronaldo and Benzema for fun last season? Let's give him time. He'll be a great player for us.

Yeah, relevant stats. Next you'll be bringing out Downing's assists to the assistee stats, eh? I mean, the only stats that count to me (for attack-minded players) are assists and goals. Again though, stats don't tell you everything, but if you need stats to be convinced of Di Maria's abilities then I give up. Also, people complaining about his inaccuracies should remember he's a winger - inconsistency is part of their game and it's through the sheer numbers of these attempts that they're effective. And bloody hell, Angel can be effective. Wouldn't be surprised to see the hypocrisy go even deeper, with some of his critics probably wanting Nani back.I mean. (Not attacking you by the way, simply the recent deluded criticism) Leave Nani where he is. Just because he scored a wonder goal as they say we should bring him back, no way. Young 18 year old Rathbone scored a wonder goal in the under 18s the other night and he is a midfielder, love too see the likes of him get a game. Next we will hear and see that Ando scored a wonder goal and we should bring him back.

Let's not forget he's working the league out. Once he recognises who the weak links are in the opposition, he'll fly. That was always Ronaldo's best asset.

ADM has gone from looking like a great player eager to display his flair irrespective of the opposition to an average looking Joe wanting to blend into the background. There is something seriously wrong in the house.

Agree with all of that and I also feel he's showing his frustration with the quality he's trying to provide for Would love to see Willo getting a run and the two trying to build an understanding Failing that buy Ronnie and Benzema

Reallry like to see ADM set back into the middle where he is most effective. Love the look on the defenders faces when he is blasting off full speed, they don't know whether to shit or go blind.

(Not attacking you by the way, simply the recent deluded criticism) no what i meant by that was assists only tells you half the story. a key pass is generally the pass before an assist (assist #1 or #2 in ice hockey) and a chance created is an assist that a forward couldnt bother his arse converting. i can think of a number of through balls and passes that ADM has put through to RVP in particular that havent been converted for whatever reason. he's far more effective than his assists total, IMO

Excellent points ^ A lot of the passing that mids are doing go to waste because forwards don't make as much effort as they ought to be Surely these are passes that they work on in training, and far to many times the forward the pass is leading seems to be loafing along about 3/4 speed, which makes the passer look pretty inept.
Kind of thing ends up making several other players look bad, when is one player throwing timing off. For me, the overall play has not been near as "crap" as it might seem

The off the ball movement of our front 4 (if you will) has been so dismal it's no surprise Di Maria hasn't had a good match in some time.
Miss Chica for that reason, although often offsides, you can expect an unorthodox, testing run from him quite regularly.

Chico would be as ineffective as Falcao, perhaps slightly better, as our buildup play is so lethargic half the time, with Di Maria the only one actually carrying the ball forward in those defence-to-attack transitions we're all yearning for.

There have been multiple occasions this season where the movement from our strikers has been specifically pointed out. Gary Neville even did a piece on it.
