The first 3 threads on the transfer section are about Falcao, Gotze and Bale.
Fuck the FFP. fuck the debt, fuck the defence.
Get all 3!!
Play 3 - 4 - 3
Any combo of Jones, Smalling, Rio, Vidic and Evans at the back. Kagawa, Carrick, Gotze and Bale in midfield (Clevers and Rafael in the Dani Alves role can get some starts too) Rooney, Falcao and RVP as a front 3.
Attack Attack Attack!!

'But, but, but, what about Carrick. . . Waaaaahhhh!!' He will, of course, still have his part to play. But time to look for youth and mobilty and pace in our midfield. Never know, we might actually start playing some decent football. you live in an alternate reality to the rest of us. carrick's our one regular midfielder having the season of his life, and all season long you've been talking about him being either thrown into rotation or not in the side at all. you want a kagawa/cleverley combo in midfield, which would be so unbalanced and top-ended our defense would be exposed massively and we'd have big trouble moving the ball into the attacking half of the pitch, since cleverley can't pass forwards and kagawa isn't a plyer who wants to keep picking up the ball off the back line. Yeah we would be slaughtered defensively with those two in midfield. I can't see why Carrick shouldn't be the first name on the team sheet for the next 2-3years.

I'm not surprised. To me this seems like the typical end of season agent fabrication widely reported in the media in an effort to increase the profits from a sale and strengthen the eventual bargaining position of both player and agent. Mendes is held in high regard in this here republik, because of the Ronaldo, Nani and Anderson(the last two are players that the majority of the same people who love Mendes, now want out of the club. Perhaps they would be saying the same about Ronaldo if he hadn't left already) transfers. People forget that he also orchestrated the Bebe deal(scam). I wouldn't trust him with a bucket of water if my knickers were on fire.

Stoking up the fire by the sounds of it before the summer when you'll probably see a huge offer from one of the richer clubs IMO.

Because he can't defend & can't attack are the finer points of the game missed on you? defending/attacking must consist of only thunderous slide tackling or actually hitting the back of the net in your book he defends by reading the game and making interceptions. or 'putting out fires' as ferdinand describes it. he starts attacks through his passing, often getting the ball forwards into the attackers feet very quickly.

Hence, transfer rumours involving his clients and us have a margin more possibility.

No they are not lost on me, & you are correct but you have just described his whole game. We could do better. Decent player, good season but nothing more for me.

Decent player, good season but nothing more for me. what more do you want? you can argue that he should contribute more in attack, i would agree he should score a few goals. but saying he can't defend is just daft he's worth his place. what we need to buy is a quality center mid to play next to him, not replace him, otherwise we'd still be short of a center mid.

Carrick can screen, not defend. He isn't going to go and actually win you the ball on even an almost regular basis. Once in a while, he'll make a challeneg and get the ball back, but rarely.
Worth his place, but not the vital piece of the jigsaw he's made out to be.

Carrick's defending this season has been outstanding. He's tracked back and made a lot of good tackles, however his best area is not defending but his ability to pick that one pass out that will create something.
Sorry Bestie gotta disagree there mate, he IS the vital peice in the middle at the moment, granted if we brought someone decent in i.e Strootman or Gotze then perhaps his light may not shine as much but he's been vital over the last 2 seasons for us.

Fair point then, I see where your coming from now.
Back on the topic though, I've seen the rumour mill dig a bit deeper on the Falcao deal so perhaps there is more than just rumours involved.
Or is it a sly ploy to get the price up, If say City or Chelsea see were offering 30-35m then to stop us getting him they could offer 50-60m and Athletico Madrid know this.

Carrick maybe replaceable, but then so are many other players in our squad.
The problem is none of them are being replaced, so technically, as one of the few performing players we have, he is irreplaceable.
