Carrick is a ledge right now. This is why I've not changed sig's so frequently He is here to stay, Other than perhaps De Gea, he' the first player on my team sheet anyhow.

£50m? Since when do we have that kind of cash to splash? Did Malcolm win the lottery or something?

As much as I'd like to see us sign him and I want us to, I don't see the logic behind it. We have 4 main Strikers in the squad as it is. Even if you moved Rooney into the middle and Welbeck onto a wing, it would push several others out then.
Rvp and Falcao up front is fucking terrifying but unless they have the service then your not going to get full advantage of it. You've also still got the same issue with the middle, you can't play Rooney AND Kagawa there and if truth be told you'd want both playing. Carrick needs to be playing aswell so unless we scrap having wingers then it wont work.
We just seem to be smoke screening the problem areas and thinking the answer to our questions is more strikers. We will still have a constantly unfit defence so that will be rotated.

Carrick can screen, not defend. screening is a form of defending.

Worth his place, but not the vital piece of the jigsaw he's made out to be. he is this season. he was largely last season. probably will be next season as well. for those saying carrick is replaceable...yes, he is, but we've been moaning for a CM for the last 4 years and none has materialised, and if we only replace carrick we will STILL be a CM light. so be careful what you wish for

£50m? Since when do we have that kind of cash to splash? Did Malcolm win the lottery or something? I'm not sure why people think we can't compete for these expensive players? Do people not realise that we are the best placed team in England (and one of the best in Europe) to spend big amounts (within reason) under the new FPP ruling? It's the likes of City who can't spend stupid amounts like they have done in previous years. I saw a daft article stating about them signing Bale, Cavani and Goetze for £130m, not a chance that that's going to happen. Carrick can screen, not defend. screening is a form of defending. It's surprising how often he wins the ball back for us, whilst he doesn't slide about on the floor or crunch into tackles, so often he gets a toe to the ball and disposes people. Such a vital part of our team at the moment.

Ok so;
@guillembalague After @soccerex and #4Amigos tonight, let's deal with Falcao/MU. But they HAVE paid an advance as they did with de Gea
He's been caught out in the past but he generally knows his stuff when it comes to Spanish football. For us to have paid an advance means to me that it's pretty much a done deal?
I think this is going to be a big summer for us and I'm pretty sure we'll still buy a MF at least, perhaps a winger / CB as well.

If this was to happen, how do people envisage him and RvP playing together? You'd assume Falcao would be the focal point of the attack, so RvP shifting to the left?
I think if this does come off though it's pretty much the writing on the wall for Rooney. Only other possibility is if he drops back to CM. I think he could play the role, but his fitness could be an issue along with his positional discipline.
Carrick Rooney
Zaha/Valencia Kagawa RvP
Falcao
