Yeah, surely if we've paid them money already then the deal should be as good as done. It's not like they can tell us they've spent it but don't feel like going through with the deal anymore.
I'll cry hysterically, even comically so, if we end up getting Falcao, Fletch and Scholes call it a day and we still spend nothing on midfield. #huhuh#

Fuck that noise.
We seriously need fresh blood in there. A proven, classy box to box player simply has to be top of the list.

come on, this is the English press pack, of course he would have been asked about it. unless they got strict orders not to ask any transfer related questions....... (which would pose even more questions in my mind)

Siging RvP was supposed to give us (all) Wet Dreams and make the opposition shiver. At this moment we are in a way laboring ourselves to the finish line ( pls refer City thread) Getting Falcao may be great and all but it;d still be papering over the cracks. Seeing as our Winger's , Mid are all sh** gone and we still haven't figured out how to use Kags and for whatever reason we still have Clevs and Ando on the bench with Giggs in the Mid. I Mean if they are not good enough kick them out or play them. What about Powell, Henriques and Keane - when he comes back from injury. Getting world class players is exciting and i am all for it but more than players i'd be really happy if we can have a transfer for the AM or a new" Tactics" Manager/Coach.

Completely agree with your papering over the cracks comment. You can have the 10 best strikers in world football, but if there's nobody good enough to create the chances for them we're just wasting a load of money. The ideal time to buy a midfielder was a couple years back, or even last summer. But now we have Ferdinand and Evra a year older and we seem to have turned the best set of wingers in the league into a trinity of uselessness. Plus we have a load of dead weight in midfield - and that's just Anderson. Add to that Scholes retiring and Giggs being another year older, and Fletcher nowhere near a return. It just seems like we've missed the chance to get at least one young midfielder, get them settled in the team. Now it looks like we have so much firefighting to do - some expected (Scholes, Fletcher) some unexpected (Valencia, Nani) that we're at risk of having to overlook the centre midfield once again.

Valencia can come back to his best. He showed shoots of it when he cam eon at the end against city. Looked up for it, and willing to go past people. Zaha excites me, and while he gets a fiar bashing Young is okay. Plus we play Welbeck wide quite a bit. Shame for him, but it happens. It must mean Sir Alex likes him, as he loves playing younger players he likes out of position for a bit.
Falcao in and Rooney out would see a straight swap (not a swap deal) and we could still concentrate on midfield.

I remembered there was a press conference a few weeks back when there were Rooney rumblings going on and didn't Fergie pretty much say "Rooney will be here next season, I guarantee you that". Taking that and the fact we already have the awesome RvP too, it seems a bit strange.

Really don't understand this theory that Rooney has to be the one to go given the shit that we have in our squad right now that isn't even cutting it close to doing half a job.
Doesn't matter whether we are linked with someone or if it's because he doesn't play every week, he seems to be the only player that's constantly linked with a move elsewhere, one of which gets constantly slammed by his own manager. So surely that should put an end to it?
I'd much rather half the squad go before we even come to him. Yes he was a wanker for the ransom saga but fuck me we're not Chelsea we shouldn't hold grudges (especially if he's actually doing the job) and IMHO he has done more than enough to repay it. It will always be a case of forgive but not forget. Seems to be the only reason people still want him gone (not necessarily on here just in general) If that is the only reason then people need to wise up and get the fuck on with things.
His work rate and determination is top notch, whether hes a cunt off the pitch I couldn't give 2 fucks, its what hes like on the pitch I give a shit about and if it goes on that basis he should be one of the last players we should be looking at getting rid of. He's not world class as some say by any means but he is the driving force in the squad and actually puts effort into his game, unlike some players in the squad right now.
Said before and I'll say again, signing Falcao would be amazing but its smoke screening the real problem. We signed Rvp because he would smash the goals in. Aye granted those two up front would tear teams apart, however wasn't that what we thought Rooney and Rvp would do?
There is no point in signing a world class striker unless we have the means of getting the ball to him, something Rvp is struggling with right now because of complete shit on the wings and no creativity in Midfield instead it's kept on the bench all the time.
Mini rant over.

Mini rant over. Good points. I don't think we will sign Falcao but if we did I think it would unbalance the side. At least one of Rooney or Hernandez would have to be sold (possibly both), Robin would have to play the number 10 role and Kagawa would have to play on the wing which is a waste. Would rather see us spend the money on a midfielder and someone like Gotze or Isco.

Mini rant over. Similar thoughts. Rooney too me is becoming more of a scapegoat for actions in the past. Anybody who puts in a shift ( wingers assisting in defense, full backs in attack) is good enough for United but not Rooney who is almost every where on the pitch and does a decent job. Yes he has fitness issues and goes to school boy level coming out of injuries/long lay offs , but most often we lack , drive, purpose or any teeth to our play without him (IMHO) Its pretty much ridiculous to think of selling him. Good to have Falcao , great to buy top talent and all but please we have more than enough crap to sell before we can loo at Rooney-- unless of course he doesn't want to sign an extension in which case its different. But on Transfers , When we bought Kags i thought he would fill the Midfield Dribbler / creator role more like Silva for City or Mata for Chelsea and that We'd look to one of Fletcher/Clevs/Ando to be the Midfield Box - to - Box. But for some reason both seem to be filled in by Carrick and/or Giggs. This to me is what needs to be fixed , i don't think its personnel but more Usage of them and hence my wish to have a New AM/AC in the summer. P.S: Would be really gutted to see Chico but glad that he shall be able to smile more often than as it is now.
