TBH the move could be the making of him - maybe the extra pressure of being a local lad got to him too much

Comments I'm hearing from relatives and friends in Manchester, including Bitters fans, Welbeck's transfer has caused a lot of local resentment towards the club. He seems to be a cause célèbre suddenly, which clearly he wasn't with us. Somehow I think this saga has legs.
Where I think this will cause us most harm is regards to Arsenal's poor performance against lessor clubs. If he gets them those extra points it will make our job harder for 4th. He's also slotting into a settled side which gives them another advantage.
Overall if he had to go I wish it had been out of the PL and certainly not to that lot.

People need to chill. Besides the emotional effect of selling Welbeck, which I agree is a little heart-wrenching, would you rather have him playing ahead of RVP, Falcao and Wilson?
Genuinely think we have natural goal scorers that are of a higher caliber than what he is at the moment. If your answer is no, can we really expect to keep the lad here at the expense of his career (He turns 24) when he's aware he's 5th choice, just for the sake of maintaining a local lad? Swings and roundabouts, Phil, in 2-3 years everyone will be frothing about Wilson, Welbeck will have done reasonably well, but he'll never be scoring 20-25 goals a season - at least, I don't think that'll happen. I mean, we've seen him with England too, he's just not that clinical in front of goal.
Watched his interview with Arsenal, you can actually see him hesitating at most of the strange bits, saying things like "it's an exciting time for me" where usually players would say shit like "it's a dream come true" - the kid didn't want to leave, but had to.
Also, now that we have all the money in the world I'm sure we can buy him back in a few years if by some miracle he turns into something spectacular. For me, Welbeck's game revolved around pace, movement and high energy forward runs, with moments of great feet - he reminds me more of a winger tbh.
People freak out because we sold academy graduates - these players weren't kids anymore, Cleverley is 25 and Lawrence we have a buyback clause. We've given squad numbers to Lingard, Keane and Blackett, the latter of which has played quite a few league games so far. Powell and Keane are still our player and will be getting PL gametime, that's perfect - we can see if they're able to play regularly at this level without having to wait weeks to play. I see nothing wrong with our business this summer, the squad now has breathing room to bring through players without all the dross blocking the way.
Literally all my Arsenal mates are rambling on about how Wenger mentioned he wants a core of British talent in their team etc etc etc and the regular high horse bullshit but if that means taking our 5th choice strikers then so be it, we've been doing it for years - we'll be doing it again with the next crop.

I don't think we'd be targeting them for fourth anyway Phil. Liverpool would be the ones that we would be targeting. Arsenal know how to stay in the top four and they have had a reasonable window in fairness. Welbeck is a good addition for them but I doubt he's the one that can tip the title in their favour.

This squad, with the addition of a top quality midfielder and a world class CB, is good enough to win the league in a year or two, especially considering the youngsters coming through.

I've never hated Liverpool as much as this season. They have verbally Ripped United to shreads for too long. They need to be put in their place. 6 points off them and knock them out of the top 4 please.

Arsenal fans will know your name and will have seen you play. What are your strengths - what can you can bring to this team?I'd like to bring pace and power to the game. At Arsenal, we're not short of combination football and I like to join in on that and get in behind defenders and try to get shots off at goal. I want to score some goals and help the team to achieve the right results. I liked the part when he said he will try to get shots off at goal. That suits him perfectly, but the next sentence does not.

Love Danno...one of our own but I just wish he had been more reliable in front of goal...maybe he didn't get enough chances...I sort of wish him luck at the Arse but don't want him to help them nick any of our trophies...but this move could see him really develop...

Some of the reactions would have you believe we sold a Class'92 calibre player to a rival Sucks we had to let him got but I'm glad, the club didn't act a dick and veto a move to top 6 like it was suggested in the media. Expect Danny to do good and improve Arsenal but not a title winning one.

On the bright side he could always show the Arse players his medals just to piss them off
