Hurts to see him in those colors. Read today he rolled an ankle in training. Nothing to serious I hope. Him in Arsenal colors is almost as bad as Vida in an Inter kit

Mickey Phelan seems to forget how he was brought to Old Trafford in the first place. I was at Old Trafford for his debut when Michael Knighton juggled the ball on the pitch. Neil Webb made his debut the same day. By the middle of September Paul Ince, Gary Pallister and Danny Wallace had all joined which was a huge spree by Fergie at the time. Pally a record for a defender, and Ince after a failed medical. Neither did too badly for us, although the other 3 didn't exactly pull up trees.

I would have loved Danny Boy in the Squad to come off the bench or start the odd match, but he wants to be given regular football, so it has been done. And really who would you first name as the person to flub a chance inside the 18, yes indeed it was Danny...Best wishes to him, but a United first teamer he was not...

Welbeck will be Arsenal's top scorer. With 9 goals?

The way people have been talking you'd think we'd never signed a bloody player before! Fergie's first title winning team? Schmeichel, Parker, Bruce, Pallister, Irwin, Ince, McClair, Sharpe, Kanchelskis, Cantona, Robson. All bought. Only Giggs, Hughes and maybe Blackmore were youth teamers who played a big role (and we'd had to re-sign Hughes). There was also the likes of Beardsmore, Martin and Ferguson but for every one of those there was a Phelan, Webb, Donaghy, and Dublin. If we'd done what we should have done, bought Di Maria two years ago, bought Herrera last year, then this summer wouldn't have looked like a mad spending spree. It's only been necessary because we've neglected the side for far too long. Edit: By "People" by the way I don't mean on here, talking about the media and opposition fans.

Danny Welbeck became Arsenal's fifth signing of the summer on Monday and you can watch his first interview right here. Below is a transcript:
Danny, how does it feel to be an Arsenal Player?
It's exciting times for me. It's great to be a part of this club and it's a team that I've always watched in the Premier League. I've envisaged myself playing in this team before. For it to finally happen is very exciting.
When you say you picture yourself in the team, is that because of the way Arsenal play and you see yourself as a striker going on to those through balls?
I believe the style of play the manager's got and the boys play and with the magnificent players in midfield slotting balls through, I can run on to the end of those balls and slot them away.
How did the move unfold from your perspective?
It went right down to the wire in the end. It's difficult to say how I felt at the [different] times of each day because the deal was on and then it was off but at the end of the day I'm an Arsenal player and I couldn't be any happier at the moment.
Do you sense that Arsenal are a club on the up?
Yeah definitely. They've done well in recent years and last year we got the FA Cup and I feel like it's time where we could really push on and try and challenge for the Premier League title. I've got one medal and it's something that I really want to add to.
Arsenal fans will know your name and will have seen you play. What are your strengths - what can you can bring to this team?
I'd like to bring pace and power to the game. At Arsenal, we're not short of combination football and I like to join in on that and get in behind defenders and try to get shots off at goal. I want to score some goals and help the team to achieve the right results.
You're still a young man but you've got a lot of experience at the top level already. In what way can this move take your career to the next level?
I've been at United ever since I was a little boy and I had a great time there. I just think this is the next stage of my development - to come to Arsenal, to really show people what I can do as a footballer and hopefully get to the place where I want to be.
You had been at Manchester United for most of your life, so it must have been difficult to leave...
Things move on in life and I think you've really got to make the right decision in the situation that you're in at that moment in time. I really do believe that coming to Arsenal is the right decision.

TBH he had to say the right things in that interview - part of any transfer is the PR bullshit and he doesn't want the Gooner fans on his back before he'd even played a game I don't think anyone would believe he'd say "I wanted to stay at United, they've always been in my blood but I only came here to get a game" - wouldn't go down to well I'm 100% he would rather be playing for United in his favoured position - the fact that he was being played out of position was he wasn't better than RVP, Rooney or Chico I thought he did well wide left - his strength is running at players and getting fouled around the box - gave us plenty of dead ball opportunities - he just wasn't good enough in front of goal to be first choice striker and never would be

Stolen, but good...
So basically taking a view over a 2 year period United have swapped Van Persie for Welbeck with Welbeck being loaned back to United for 2 years in the process and Arsenal only making 8 million pounds profit? Beginning to wonder if Sir Alex put a gun (or hair dryer) to Wenger's head? Still get the feeling Danny will be back to haunt us in the very near future... Phil, MUFC Salford
