I haven't read any of the Reacher books but have seen the film, which was ok. I particularly liked the blonde whose name escapes me, maybe she could make an appearance in the famous women appreciation thread. I'll check out Mr Child on hols. I got my son hooked on reading Jack Reacher and when he went on holiday to Spain I gave him 'Killing Floor' & 'Die Trying'. He came back from holidays and said "Fuck dad. I read them books and could not put them down until I finished reading them!!!!". He said that he seen the film with Cruise acting as Reacher and Cruise played the part well. My reply was "How can you get someone like that who is 5ft 7 playing a 6ft 5 maniac. Cruise is too baby faced too play Reacher and a short arse twat". He just laughed and said "I get your point you old git".

Gave up on the Patterson - got bored and all the racist bullshit was getting dull Started Cell by Stephen King - saw that the film version is in post production the other day (Sam Jackson and John Cusack \0/) and wanted to get it in before I saw it - it was on the shortlist to re-read anyway

Cell was even better than I remembered If the film is half as good it should be fine - ... hope they keep the last scene too Starting The Survivor by James Herbert tonight - one of the rare ones that was made into a film (Robert Powell and Jenny Agutter) in the early 80s www.imdb.com/title/tt0083144/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

But if the book is anything like his novels, The Fog,The Rats etc then it should be a good read.

I don't remember reading the book but the big difference is the film was set in Aussieland and the book is set in England - there really should have been more films of his stuff - The Fog would have been great visually

The Fog was ok too watch, have seen it a few times. I can't remember if they made a film about The Rats but the book is brilliant. I prefer reading a James Herbert book than a Stephen King book.

The Carpenter film The Fog wasn't connected to the Herbert book The Rats was made into a very bad Canadian made for TV effort - only 5 of his works have been filmed The Survivor - decent but set in Australia with English stars and director Deadly Eyes (The Rats) - woeful Fluke - awful compared to the book Haunted - script murdered the original story The Secret of Crickley Hall - good mini-series with Suranne Jones

Just checked. I always thought it was made into a film from Herbert's book. No wonder I thought it was nothing like the book lol. I remember The Secret of Crickley Hall. Started again and read Lee Childs Jack Reacher in the Killing Floor when we started to talk about it in here. I still have that book in my book collection.

I fucking shit myself. It's true that. Many a time when I was doing security work, night shift in a building and reading a good book, especially a ghost or horror book. Two 'o' clock in the morning, all dead quiet and then you hear a bang or what not and shit yourself. Happened many a time too me. I remember doing a night shift in a government museum building and ground. Went on a patrol around 3 ish in the morning in the grounds, pissing down with rain, dark and cold with a flashlight and a fucking fox run past me. I fucking shit a brick!!!!

Just woke up to the news Terry Pratchett has died. Devastated, one of my favourite authors. Diskworld books were superb and it's a sad day for literature that there won't be anymore.
RIP Sir Terry.
