Just woke up to the news Terry Pratchett has died. Devastated, one of my favourite authors. Diskworld books were superb and it's a sad day for literature that there won't be anymore. RIP Sir Terry. Only got around to reading a couple of his books but loved the SKY versions that they filmed and broadcast - Hogfather being the best of the three IMO. Genuinely nice guy as well and sadly missed.

Got to respect anyone who brings something special to millions Brother-in-Law was a big fan and he was pretty cut up a few years ago when TP was first diagnosed with the illness

Finished The Survivor last night - got about 1% in common with the film version If they'd stuck to the book it could have been a classic - the book really was excellent Sticking with James Herbert and will be starting on the Rats trilogy tonight (The Rats, Lair & Domain)

Have you read any Shaun Hutson? Slugs is a good one. Was it Herbert who wrote '48? Another I enjoyed. Pig island freaked me out a bit, I think it's by Mo Hayder.

I've just finished gravity by Tess Geritssen. Good book, I've never read any of hers before.

I've just finished gravity by Tess Geritssen. Good book, I've never read any of hers before. I think I have only read one of her books and that was a medical thriller called Blood Stream. As she is a retired physician the book was good. A bit like John Grisham an American lawyer who has penned a load of good books mainly on the legal side of things and then you know he know's what he is talking about when you read any book by Grisham. Tess Geritssen sounds the same on the medical side of things.

Finished part one of the Ash trilogy last night and started on The Ghosts of Sleath It's nice to see someone actually improve as a writer - you really only notice that if you read their stuff from different periods back to back - Sleath flows a lot better and is well paced compared to some of Herbert's early work - though very good it seems a bit "clunky" Still, who am I to criticise an amazingly successful writer? -- tried it myself once and was a bit shite

Found out it was written by Herbert and always meant to read the book but never got around to it. I have read his *The Rats, *The Fog, *The Magic Cottage and a few more over the years but I can't think of the titles of them, but the one's I mentioned I enjoyed the read. *
