Rooney bigger impact than Scholes? I cant agree with that, not in a million years. IMO Rooney has been consistently good and occasionally great. Like i said in my OP all the recent greats of the game all say Scholesy was the best player they played against, never heard anyone say that about Rooney he's the hardest worker in training I take it all back then

Behave. Just, I just, just ... Rooney has no place in any 'Top #' list ahead of Paul Scholes. If we are talking about as players and all comps then no you are right Scholes is the more complete player. But based just on the Prem Rooney has a made a bigger impact than Scholes. In which alternative dimension?

Rooney is the second highest scorer of all time and he isn't even 30 yet.

Rooney has no place in any 'Top #' list ahead of Paul Scholes. if you look at pure numbers... he probably would make it into a top 5. but looking at those same numbers would mean that all 5 of the top 5 would be strikers, and anybody that knows the game knows that the best 5 players to ever play in the PL were not all strikers. scholes definitely in, in my opinion. giggs too, due to the graphic someone posted the other day of his goals/assists record over his career, and in particular that bonkers year (2003/2004 IIRC). He really wouldn't. This isn't an anti-Rooney thing, this is a basic level of footballing talent comparison thing.

Picking the best PL player is impossible, I don't mind discussions about the best PL team ever, at least you can reason about that. Scholes for me is the best player i've seen play for the club. The man was a complete one off in English football and we have no chance of replacing him, theres only one player like him and he's in his mid 30s and playing for Barcelona.

Anyway as I said Rooney has scored nearly 200 goals in the premier leauge and you are going to see his name on the these lists in the future. It's not just about " talent" its about numbers and Rooney has them both hence why he makes my list.

The goal to game ratio is a big thing in my opinion.

One such PR spin exercise happens to be Wayne Rooney is vitally important. Which happens to be bollocks. Scholes is second to no player on the planet of his generation. Possibly any other generation too.

Scholesy is the best I saw since I started following United and the PL.
Henry has to be in any top 5 PL players list.
Nev must have been pissed picking CC ahead of Cantona.
PHC had more impact than Scholesy? Jesus wept..

Which happens to be bollocks. Scholes is second to no player on the planet of his generation. Possibly any other generation too. Zidane... Scholes is as close to the complete footballer as you can get – Zidane “YOU RARELY COME across the complete footballer, but Scholes is as close to it as you can get,” said Zinedine Zidane back in 2010. Footballing praise doesn’t come much higher.
For the second [and final] time in two seasons, Paul Scholes has announced an impending retirement. The Salford native has scored 102 goals in 466 games for Manchester United and, along with manager Alex Ferguson, will get a royal send-off at Old Trafford this afternoon.
“He’s a role model,” said Barcelona midfielder Xavi. “For me, he’s the best central midfielder I’ve seen in the last 15, 20 years. He’s spectacular, he has it all: the last pass, goals, he’s strong, he doesn’t lose the ball, vision. If he’d been Spanish, he might have been rated more highly. Players love him.”
