MUFC Latest How crucial is Morgan Schneiderlin for Manchester United? December 21, 2015 Morgan Schneiderlin On 19 December 2015, Manchester United were shocked by Norwich City at Old Trafford. After the recovery of star players, the Red Devils were expected to put up a better show at their own backyard. The philosophy is lucidly in question, as the defensive solidarity of Manchester United is now a point of concern. United’s defense was slowly growing as the epitome of defensive brilliance, to such an extent the Reds were indeed a hard nut to crack. Nevertheless, the scenario has changed dramatically; with recently promoted sides have managed to pick up a brace each and succeeded against Manchester United. In order to protect your backline, a team must carry an example setting defensive midfielder. For Manchester United, it’s none other than Morgan Schneiderlin. The Frenchman is the need of the time. His presence is huge in the United system. It’s highly recommended that United authorities back the abilities of this talented midfielder more, and make him a regular starter. In more than one way, this football prodigy is a crucial asset. Before moving on, let’s concentrate on the numbers he produced at Southampton in 2014/15 season: (Stats courtesy: Appearances 26 Successful Passes (per game) 52.9 Interceptions (per game) 2.42 Tackles Won (per game) 3.04 In Comparison with others: Morgan Schneiderlin seems a bit underrated at Old Trafford at the moment. His potential is not justified yet. He clearly deserves more game time ahead of other midfielders fighting for the same spot. The 26-year-old has a lot of things on his side, including the age factor. His competitions for starting role Michael Carrick and Bastian Schweinsteiger are over the age of 30. Both of his teammates are better in terms of attacking rather than support to the backline. His ability to disturb the opposition attacks made him such a valuable player at Southampton. Not only his art of tackling and tracking back, but his passing accuracy has been better than the two in the Barclays Premier League so far: Average Passing Accuracy Michael Carrick 89% Bastian Schweinsteiger 85% Morgan Schneiderlin 90% In terms of experience, quite evidently, Michael Carrick and Bastian Schweinsteiger top the charts. However, Schneiderlin has spent seven long years with the Saints, helping them in becoming a top flight football club. His hard work has also earned him fifteen international appearances for France, where he has already cemented his place in the starting lineup. With and Without Morgan Schneiderlin in the Premier League: Played 17 Conceded (With Schneiderlin) 6 in 12 games Conceded (Without Schneiderlin) 8 in 5 games His work rate and willingness to win the ball is amazing. He can be a very effective box to box midfielder, if United play in that sort of system (4-3-3). What philosophy has taught us so far is how to remain in shape. The Arsenal game, where United were hammered 3-0, gave all of us the idea about how important is Schneiderlin in order to remain compact. The decision to go on the field without the former Saint shows obvious pressure of scoring goals. The idea is to plot in a player with attacking mindset and leave the French international on the bench. At this point of time, things are going from bad to worse, as United are constantly struggling to perform and register a victory. The only positive aspect, which was a concrete backline and support it got from midfield, is also vulnerable. Morgan without a doubt means less goals and less number of chances created against United. The boss must make more use of the summer signing Morgan Schneiderlin, in order to get back on track with the current season.

Idea to go with an attacking midfield is shot straight in the ass by the fact that without Morgan on the pitch, the attacking midfield has to cover for the defenders, especially without the injuries. Having Morgan on the pitch is what frees the atacking mids up for fook sake!

He needs to play every fucking game he is fit for. Absolutely crucial to any chance of a half-decent season.

He needs to play every fucking game he is fit for. Absolutely crucial to any chance of a half-decent season. Absolutely, he's pretty much (along with De Gea) the most unreplaceable player we have. Carrick, Bastian, Fellaini, Blind, none of them can do the job he does of shielding the back 4. 3 of them are lovely passers who don't have the engine and tackling of Scheiderlin, and the other one is shit. Bollocks to burn out and tiredness etc, Lampard played every match for Chelsea for about 5 straight seasons.

Wouldn't make a difference though because we can't score.

06/01/2016 17:26, Report by Adam Marshall SCHNEIDERLIN'S REMARKABLE RECORD
Much has been made of Morgan Schneiderlin's importance to the Manchester United cause and the statistics back the theory that the summer signing from Southampton is capable of being a huge influence.
Since the Frenchman's return to the starting line-up for the final game of the year against Chelsea, the Reds regained form after a four-match losing run and, while no one individual is solely responsible for any outcome, it is fair to say the record with him in the side is pretty remarkable. The 2-1 success over Swansea City last time out was Schneiderlin's 18th appearance for the club and his only loss came against the Welsh outfit back in August. Even then, he was not actually on the field when United failed to find a route back into the game as he was withdrawn after 70 minutes, soon after Bafetimbi Gomis's winner. The 26-year-old was part of a winning team in his opening three fixtures for the Reds, while his only substitute appearance came in the memorable 3-1 victory over Liverpool as he entered the fray with Louis van Gaal's men 2-0 ahead. The overall record for games Schneiderlin has featured in is a healthy: P18, W10, D7, L1, GF25, GA10. Ten clean sheets have been kept in that period and he has one goal to his name - the opener in the impressive 3-0 triumph at Everton. By his own admission, he needed time to adapt to life at Old Trafford but it is clear that 2016 could be a big year for the France international as he will look to maintain his excellent on-field record and display his best form. www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Features/2016/Jan/morgan-schneiderlin-remarkable-manchester-united-record.aspx

08/01/2016 10:00, Report by Gemma Thompson SCHNEIDERLIN'S ADMIRATION FOR NIGEL ADKINSManchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin is looking forward to seeing a familiar face when Sheffield United arrive at Old Trafford on Saturday for the Emirates FA Cup third-round tie.
Schneiderlin spent just over two years working under the visitors' manager Nigel Adkins during his time at Southampton and enjoyed back-to-back promotions with him as he guided Saints from League One back to the Premier League in 2010/11 and 2011/12. The French international has huge admiration for his former boss who has just been named Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month for December after the Blades picked up nine points from nine and conceded just one goal as they moved back into the promotion picture in League One. Schneiderlin thoroughly enjoyed his time under Adkins and knows he’ll bring a well-organised outfit to Old Trafford at the weekend. “The standard is good in League One. You can see some teams in there like Sheffield United who are big teams,” he told MUTV. “There are some quality players in the league and every team is playing for their lives; it’s a league you need to take very seriously. “It will be great to see him,” he added, when asked about his old manager. “He was an important part in the Southampton rise. He came in when we were in League One and in his first year we went into the Championship and then the Premier League. He didn’t have enough time to show his skill as a Premier League manager with Southampton but it was a joy to work with him. He’s a manager who is always optimistic and always has a smile on his face. It will be nice to see him.” MUTV will show more from Morgan in The Manager's Press Conference show at 14:00 GMT and Countdown To Kick-Off at 18:30 GMT on Friday.www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2016/Jan/man-united-star-morgan-schneiderlin-recalls-sheffield-united-nigel-adkins-as-southampton-manager.aspx

18/01/2016 08:50, Report by Adam Higgins SCHNEIDERLIN SAVOURS 'SPECIAL' ANFIELD WIN Morgan Schneiderlin is urging his team-mates to build on Sunday's 'special' win at Anfield, where he experienced the atmosphere for the first time as a Manchester United player.
The French midfielder came on as a substitute when United beat Liverpool at Old Trafford in September but this time he played the full 90 minutes as Wayne Rooney’s late volley secured a memorable 1-0 victory. Schneiderlin, who also visited Liverpool three times with Southampton, said the Reds were delighted to come away from Merseyside with a hard-fought win. He told MUTV: “Anfield is always a nice atmosphere, especially in a derby match. We could feel it was a special moment and we are very happy to finish with the win today. "It was the most important thing to give the win to our fans and the football club. Hopefully now we can carry on.” Liverpool created more chances in the opening 45 minutes but Schneiderlin explained how his side improved in the second half to eventually claim a fourth successive win over the club's historic arch rivals. “In the first half, we didn’t win enough second balls. Sometimes we won the first ball but not the second ball,” the Frenchman said. "When we came into the dressing room after the first half, there was some screaming and shouting but of course that is normal because in a derby you cannot lose the battle. “Liverpool are a very high pressing team and we knew if we kept a clean sheet we would have a chance to win the game. “In the second half we did what we had to do. We scored one goal, stayed strong and, at the end, it is three points which is amazing.” Schneiderlin also acknowledged the contribution of David De Gea, who kept United in the game with several excellent saves throughout. “David is a very important player in our squad," said the midfielder. "We are very happy to have him and happy that he didn’t go last summer. He is fully committed to this football club. “When you have a player like this in goal, it’s good for us because we know we are not going to concede many goals and he is going to make some saves. Well done to him.” Rooney’s 12th goal of the season with 12 minutes remaining proved the difference against Liverpool on Sunday – and Schneiderlin stated the importance of the captain to United’s hopes of winning trophies. He added: “Wayne is still the main figure at the club, he’s the one guy who has scored so many goals in his career and he will keep doing it. Sometimes you have spells where you don’t score but he has kept the smile on his face and trained hard. “You saw his two goals against Newcastle were very good and today he scored another amazing goal. We need him in the second half of the season if we are to achieve something special.” United's next match is against Schneiderlin's former club - Southampton visit Old Trafford this Saturday, 23 January, with kick-off at 15:00 GMT. www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2016/Jan/Player-reaction-Morgan-Schneiderlin-happy-with-special-Anfield-win-for-Manchester-United.aspx

26/02/2016 22:30, Report by Adam Marshall BOSS: SCHNEIDERLIN'S BEST PERFORMANCE Louis van Gaal believes Morgan Schneiderlin enjoyed "by far" his best performance in a Manchester United shirt during Thursday's Europa League success over Midtjylland.
The France international hit a post and was unlucky not to score on another couple of occasions but it was his all-round performance that impressed his manager. Ahead of Sunday's Barclays Premier League test against Arsenal at Old Trafford, the summer signing from Southampton's form is certainly encouraging. Schneiderlin was an unused substitute when the Reds went down 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium in early October but will hope to patrol the midfield against the title-chasing Gunners this weekend. "Nobody is talking about Morgan Schneiderlin," said van Gaal after Thursday's game. "But Morgan Schneiderlin played his best match. By far, his best match. "I am happy for Morgan. It is sometimes that players get the spotlight and some players never get the spotlight. That’s a pity because when you analyse the game and you shall see that Morgan Schneiderlin has played a very good match." Schneiderlin spoke to United Review recently, ahead of United's meeting with Stoke City earlier in the month, and discussed how much he is relishing the challenges that come with being a Red and how he is always striving to improve. When asked how he would assess his own form in his debut campaign, he told us: "I’m very critical of myself. I want to do a lot better and I know I can do a lot better because I think there are things that I haven’t shown yet. I’m working hard every day to improve and I’m confident I can show my qualities. I had a good spell in October and November then I had an injury but I feel better and better as the weeks go on. "Every weekend [at United] you are expected to win and people are looking at every aspect of your game. The expectations here are to be the best and at 100 per cent in every game and that’s something I relish, I love it. It helps you become a better player and that’s what I want." www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2016/Feb/boss-morgan-schneiderlin-had-his-best-game-v-midtjylland.aspx
