In New York Aussies get pretty much get in. America made some political deal with Australia and they traded it for virtually free entry to New York so some states might be easier than others. Better be quick though, I'm sure I saw a Donald Trump tweet about anyone who's ever been on a surfboard and eaten Shrimps from a BBQ is actually a Muslim Terrorist. Allegedly.

Well I've never eaten shrimp on a barbie but unfortunately have been on a surfboard once. I think he's racist enough that that still counts.

Dear Rustin. I want to move to America. I don't think I can though. Seemingly it's very difficult to get in permanently. Is this just holiday blues or is my future in the states? Kind regards Si My wife and I want to as well. Badly! It isn't impossible. I'm a teacher and she is a project manager. We believe that we can get it done. My dad's wife is a lawyer and she has a immigration lawyer pal. They've looked into me getting over there and to be honest my chances are slim. I work in construction doing heating and ventilation with no real qualifications. I don't think NVQ is recognized over there! One option is a 90 day visa, but I wouldn't be able to sell up over here just for three months in America. She also has a few contacts in the construction industry as well, so I'm going to send her my resume to see if I can get a sponsor. The other hurdle is persuading the OH. She isn't keen on the idea. It's a huge decision.

We want it SO bad.

Where are you thinking of?

Where are you thinking of? Depends. There are only international schools in certain locations that would work for me. But my wife's company has an office in Connecticut so that could be a starting point for us. Not where we'd want to be long term though.

We pay our educators more, offer better benefits and are one of the highest performing education systems in the world. Toronto is more or less an American city with all the razzmatazz one might want. Granted you'll be spending a few years supply teaching, but in the long run it'll be worth it. www.google.ca/amp/s/www.thestar.com/amp/yourtoronto/education/2015/11/25/canadian-teachers-among-top-paid-worldwide-study-finds.html

I did need to feel better. But now I do feel better because you feel better. But now I'm sad that you were sad, and it took my feeling better to make you feel better without even knowing why you needed to feel better, so I fear your problem is going to be buried under my feeling better when we should really work on you feeling better. Rustin Cohle I think I have a problem. Dear Ded, One must not base one's self-worth on the thoughts of others. It is a noble goal to try and improve the happiness of others, and empathy is one of the most vital skills a human can have, but we must not allow another's sadness to define our own. Lots of love, Rustin Dear Rustin. I want to move to America. I don't think I can though. Seemingly it's very difficult to get in permanently. Is this just holiday blues or is my future in the states? Kind regards Si Dear Si, All hope is not lost, but nor is it an easy task. From the replies in this thread it is clear we have members more learned than I on the matter, so my suggestion is only to seek as much advice as possible and to never lose hope. Plan as much as possible: what cities you like, what job would let you sack off for two hours to watch midweek United games, make sure you can afford everything like health insurance etc. Many dreams are sadly unachievable but yours is not; cling onto that. Also, it may be worth looking at Canada if Trump fucks it all up. Lots of love, Rustin

I can take the reigns for a minute and say if you want to move to America, the answer is simple.
DON'T. The closest you can be to Old Trafford is about 3, 000 miles. And that's living in Maine. Nobody wants to move to Maine.

Dear Rustin Cohle I need some advice on how to remain focused during a weight loss campaign. I have tried many times before, and have lost a couple of stones on two separate occasions, but I always lapse back to my old ways, and undo all the good work I had put in previously. My goal is 5 stones, but would settle on four (although, to be honest, anything that would stop me looking into a hairdressers mirror and not being able to identify which chin is hanging over the apron would be a start)

Not sure my knees are up to sprinting to be honest. I love high speed walking, but sprinting is a bit too high impact. I've seen you extol it's virtues here before though so maybe I will give it a go and see.

Load it up with protein and all the vitamins you need for the day. A heathy dose of pineapple juice works too if you need it sweeter. You can easily lose 2 pounds per week if you use the smoothie to replace lunch.
