Only the league cup but still nice to get through, we are the holders after all.
15 games played this season (inc the Super Cup) 11 wins, only 2 draws and 2 defeats 37 goals scored, only 8 conceded.
Pretty sure every one of us would have accepted that at the start of the season, maybe people could chill a bit when we lose a game or draw away from home to our biggest rivals?

Well? Hes hardly been pulling up trees in the reserves and showing he deserves a chance has he? Alright then. So why not leave him there and give Mitchell a run out in the first team then? Who's probably been our best player in the reserves this year. He's been trying to make a point with Shaw constantly since he's been here, this is no different in my eyes. And given Shaws indifferent demeanour toward his place in the team id say the manager was right isn't he? Shaw has given him no reason to not call him out. I mean Shaw's on a hefty amount per week and gets away with doing fuck all. Yet Lingard still gets plenty of abuse. And, as always, the manager cops the blame. Never the player. Edit : Look at Tuanzebe, McTominay, Rashford, etc. Thats how you take a chance. And tonight could be a run out ahead of more game time at the weekend. I'd be surprised, but it could happen.

Very comfortable tonight. 2 excellent goals from Lingard and tbh we looked dangerous whenever we got the ball to the attack. Tuanzabe was superb and McTominay was solid.
No-one majorly exerted themselves for Saturday either. So time for a proper reaction in that game, this is a mini reaction. Beat Spurs and I'll forget all about that Huddersfield result.

If he doesn't rate Shaw, fine. Leave him in the u23's and sell him in January. He's achieved absolutely nothing by sticking him on the bench and giving him 5 minutes at the end. Give that place to Mitchell instead who has been playing well enough to deserve some minutes in the first team.

Don't think I've ever seen a manager treat a player quite like Mourinho treats Shaw. It's like his mission in life is to completely embarrass him.

He could still play at the weekend and tonight was just to get him back into the routine. Mitchell has done ok. Nothing special.

Come on mate, Shaw won't be anywhere near that squad on Saturday (I'll happily eat my words if he does as I'm desperate for Shaw to make it here). Shaw has been poor in the u23's, if Mitchell has been ok he deserves the time more than Shaw does.

Lol, if Shaw has been embarrassed by getting 5 mins, then he must have completely mugged Pereira, Mata, Mikhi and Jones off by dragging them all the way there and not playing them? Embarrassed? Fucking hell

22 years old. 67 games for Southampton. 115 in total at club level. 7 for England. Youngest player at 2014 world cup. Now a reserve player. He needs to save his career. It looks like it'll only happen somewhere else at this point sadly.

Oh god damn that was nice. What a lovely ball from Darmian. Lingard is clearly world class. Undisputed. Reading this and looking at your avatar...!😋

I would have preferred to see Shaw get more minutes but I'm not going to bitch about him only getting 5 cos he still has more work to do to earn more minutes. He should be getting all of these minutes, wherever they come here and there, instead of Mitchell as he is still our best LB and the more time he gets the better and Mitchell's needed in the U23s atm. There is plenty of time for Mitchell to get his chance, but Shaw is very much on borrowed time so it is better going to him atm.

Must admit I was impressed with the youngsters again.
Dont see how anybody can comment on Shaws performance when he was on for less than 5 minutes. Was hoping to see him get more time.
Maybe now he'll pull his finger out of his arse and push forward. The LB position is waiting for him. He's got no competition so its soley down to him and how much he wants it.

Missed the game due to working but wanted to say 2 good finishes from Lingard. Pity the lad doesn't show that type of finishing more often as we know he can do it.
