Come on mate, Shaw won't be anywhere near that squad on Saturday (I'll happily eat my words if he does as I'm desperate for Shaw to make it here). Shaw has been poor in the u23's, if Mitchell has been ok he deserves the time more than Shaw does. Mitchell has done ok in a poor U23 team but I think Blind playing tonight was the right call. I would have preferred to see Shaw get more minutes but I'm not going to bitch about him only getting 5 cos he still has more work to do to earn more minutes. He should be getting all of these minutes, wherever they come here and there, instead of Mitchell as he is still our best LB and the more time he gets the better and Mitchell's needed in the U23s atm. There is plenty of time for Mitchell to get his chance, but Shaw is very much on borrowed time so it is better going to him atm. How have I gone from arguing Shaw needs more minutes to somehow arguing about him getting no minutes at all? I agree with what you're saying in terms of Shaw and Mitchell's ability, if meaningful minutes on the pitch are going free then Shaw should be getting them. I just don't think 5 minutes is meaningful enough. If this is the first step in him featuring more and more over the coming months then fair enough but I just don't see it happening. I think Jose has pretty much made his mind up on him, which is fine but he really needs to be bringing someone in, in January.

Haha sorry, went off on a tangent as i remembered something i was going to say earlier, and forgot about, in terms of blind/shaw and then went back onto Mitchell. Aye, if Shaw is done then I'd expect a new LB in January, but the way it is being phrased, at times, makes it sound like we have already been through Jan and haven't bought one. Who knows what could happen between now and then. Some act as if it is cut and dried though.

Thought McTominay did very well, he's really comfortable on the ball, great distribution.
He was going on a couple of lung-busting runs through the middle and they were resorting to bringing him down.

Has taken his chances well so far. Hopefully he can turn into a very decent player for us. Great to have another option in there atm

McTominay is such a weird case, not a chance I'd have said he'd be in this position a year ago. Has improved so much recently. Just looks really comfortable in there. He was always looking for the ball tonight, not shying away from it at all.

Should bring him on as a sub when we are dying in the arse in the PL.

McTominay and Tuenzebe showed they both can play more regular.
Tuenzebe is above Lindelof now in the pecking order now.

Tuenzebe looked class so composed on the ball, last season i though he could of done with a loan this season get him some proper competative game time, i would be putting him maybe 3rd choice cb now tho

our general play , build up and attack looks much better when we are not kicking long balls over and over to bypass the midfield.. enjoyed watching this game. In tuanzebe, mctominay and fosumensah we have 3 players who can easily step into the first team.
