You'd have thought with Pogba out for a few games it would give some players the much needed push to step up to the plate and prove their worth.
Not to be. Need a summer clearout as I don't see much happening in Jan.

what does Herrera bring apart from loads of effort ? I thought Spaniards knew how to put their foot on the ball and control the game at their tempo ? why don't we make the pitch big and fire the ball around and control the game ? its like the players are afraid of playing actual football

Lets face it - United are easy enough to defend if you double up the LW and man mark Lukaku. There is absolutely NO sustained attack from the 3 CM so only need to defend the wings. As long as teams are disciplined to not commit their fullbacks to the attack, United have very little offensive answers. So in short - an almost LVG type of CM “line” exists where the CM cannot get in front of the play. Therefore, no middle attack. Good luck controlling tempo when you are limited to 1 attacking winger and a CF that rarely stretches the back line.

wheres the in game management from the players? who was even our captain tonight? no1 in the team tonight shown balls to get control of the ball and see the game out.
im not even talking about attacking, im just talking about getting your foot on the ball, passing the ball and keeping control. wide men go wide and forward comes short and makes run in and out. 1 and 2 touch football. its basics what your taught from a young age and our players seam scared to do it

On a more serious note though, I only saw the second half due to the snow - think I got lucky by the sound of it! From what I did see, very poor again, can’t believe how open we were at times as well. Jones looked good, that was about it though.
I often wonder what sort of training we must do as we look so so disjointed at times.

Will hit the “delete” button then. FFS! No, you should invest the time in watching the match highlights. Shouldn't take more than 10 seconds.

At the start of the season we were smashing teams like this, I don't understand what has changed. Is Pogba THAT vital? Yup. Plain and simple. He is the lynchpin. There is no link from back to front without him. None of the others are either willing or capable enough to step up in his place. Thats one of the reasons you pay that much money for a player of his quality. It also shows how much has been squandered since Fergie left (partly his doing/starting with the "no value" shit) - either on players clearly not good enough or players that haven't progressed as expected. This is exactly what I posted the other day. This is the most reliant we have been on 1 player since the Robson days. We had plenty of good starts back then which then went to shit when Robbo inevitably got injured. it needs to be addressed urgently.

Aye, I'm expecting us to be busy in January. Don't want to see us panic buying but there are definitely players out there who we should be looking at.
Goretzka is a no brainer to have a go at for me, contract expiring in the summer and not cup tied for the Champions League. .

We should be able to wrangle both for a Mkhitaryan + cash deal. If Woodward really earns his money , he has to attempt to get this done. Of course , if Jose doesn't want them then there's nothing else to be said..

Ignored the second half (other than setting up score updates on my phone) to watch Peaky Blinders, which was great. Sounds like I made the right call.
