or it will be just down to us if we can or can not beat them, instead of someone raising up their game

But it's frustrating when you see a team playing out of their skin and then get thumped by some mid table team a week later. I suppose we should take it as a compliment? Always interesting to see how much teams raise their game against a team who's won the league the previous season especially considering how poor teams have been lately at defending their title.

You mean like Everton raising their game against City before we thump them, or Watford raising their game after we thump them or West Ham beating Chelsea in between being thumped by everyone. Champions happen to beat game-raisers more often than also rans.

Teams have played a lot better than Everton did and come away with nothing. Watford are very inconsistent. Yes we thumped them but they were unlucky to be 3 nil down at half time whereas we were clinical. As for West Ham, Chelsea also lost to Palace away so are not immune from shit games. I believe Morata missed a sitter in that game too?

i just dont buy into this "game raising" thing. no question, some teams are way more motivated against the bigger teams or the champions and rightly so. and maybe they do raise their game every once in a while against a certain oposition but at the end of the day its down to us to find a way to beat them.
and i really hate this fixture...
