It is a strange one we need De Bruyne and Silva to get serious injuries.

I shouldn’t really be surprised at this stage but I do find it odd how so few people on here ever credit Smalling for his good form.

Either that or too busy focusing on the players that aren't putting the effort in. He did have a good game though so credit to him. Especially as how he's been ripped apart in the past. Hasn't actually had that bad a season either with the exception of one or two games.

Even there though you have to bring in a negative to it “he’s been ripped apart in the past.’ Whereas someone like Rojo has come back from injury and completely stank the place out and no one seems to ever pick up on it. I suppose some players faces never seem to fit. Fletch for the first few years, Evans would probably be another one. Despite Bestie’s attempts to have him regarded on here, he was nearly always at the front of criticism for poor performances, even if wasn’t warranted.

People pick up on different things to me the most important part of a team is the midfield, it protects the defence and supplies the forwards and I think it’s where we need sorting out the most, we’ve seen the effect of not having a Pogba has had and it needs overhauling in the summer, get the midfield right and rest will fall into place.

What I meant was considering the criticism he gets/got he's had a reasonably good season and does deserve more praise than he's getting. Agree with the Rojo part as I mentioned further back in the thread. He's been poor, especially on the left. Id have preferred to play Shaw there. A lot of players have escaped criticism or haven't had enough so would be nice to see more players being praised when its due.

Everyone has their pet, a player who one believes in or believes is experiencing a brief blip in form, and those who aren't keen on that player see it as an unstoppable slide into mediocrity. The players you mentioned, add to the list Park, Depay, Wilson, Macheda, Rojo, Darmian, Smalling, and Lingard, who, despite 4 goals in 4 games, is still shit apparently. That's the way it's always been: many of our players are constantly being slated/defended, not just Smalling. I thought Smalling had a good game today, personally, but he's not better than Evans.

I don’t know if you were on here when Evans played a fair bit but a lot of posters had no time for him. Now in fairness to Bestie, he always stood by him and I respect that. I thought Evans was decent. I think Smalling was decent. I think Smalling is a better player than Evans, you dont. Fair enough. But its not as if there is any real discernible difference. If I say “Smalling is miles better than Evans’ well, its not true. And vice versa.

Young to right back and Rojo at left back? Why not bring Shaw on instead? Jose's a prick.
