I'm confused. Are you saying we don't have those things? What I'm saying , is that in the past 50 years , we have won 4 European trophies. Out of which only 3 are the Champions League. And one was with Mourinho. I think in the past 20 years we've been to the Champions League final 4 times and the semi finals a couple of times more (?). We have a conversion rate of 50% which is great. But 4 finals in 20 years. Not exactly something of a glorious European powerhouse are we. Our bread and butter always has been the League and it should continue to be . Mourinho might not have been tactful or smart and probably boorish with the way he went about his interview talking about us in the champions league, but he wasn't completely wrong either. Problem for me is there wasn't a great expectation under Moyes and van Gaal to be a success in Europe because we knew they weren't good enough to get us there, Mourinho was and the expectation came with it. Granted he won the Europa last season which was great but you need to step it up after that and he hasn't. He didn't bring up past history or "heritage" for our benefit, he did it for his to use as an excuse for the bullshit football he has playing. Our European history is being used as a smoke screen to his own failings, failings that he refuses to accept or acknowledge. Which I find fucking insulting towards the club and the supporters.

Aye, was a great time. McClair scored and Robbo scored a cracking overhead kick, 7 year old me lost his shit, but it got ruled out for offside. Haha! Unfortunately, the Red Star team that won the European Cup that year had been decimated over the Summer. No Posinecki, Pancev, Mihajlovic, Savicevic etc etc. Didnt savicevic pancev and mihailovic play that game ? Edit : yeah I just went on wikipedia , it tells me they played. You're right about prosinecki though. Ha, I always thought they got gutted. Savicevic was my favourite player in Serie A for AGES!

Savicevic was my favourite player in Serie A for AGES! Ah, the days when Milan were actually good.. Not sure if Savicevic would be appreciated today. Quite certain we would hear a lot more about his "effort" and "work rate" than about his football. Which was sublime more often than not.

Honestly though is Jose ok? he ranted and he didn't even believe what he was saying, whatever his reasons such as maybe protecting the players from the slating the press would have given them or likely protecting himself from the slating the press would have dished out on him, highlighting how much he has spent and how much the team look like strangers on the pitch. If we look at the lack of investment after fergie left, you had one year with Moyes where £28 million was spent, LVG came in and spent £250 million, Jose has spent £320 million, it has been 5 years since fergie left so that's like £124 million a season on average since he left, let's be real that is a lot of money, the market didn't go mad until this summer after the Neymar deal really. This issue is not how much was not spent it's really how poorly the money was spent, Jose has seemed to have a better approach in regards to the spending but then the double edged sword with that is you would expect far more cohesion on the pitch, more fluidity, better style and attack, but it's just not there. If we get knocked out or lose games fighting then you have something to build on, I hate to mention them but with Klopp and his team when they would lose everyone could identify the issue, they have begun to address that and I would expect in the summer they will further address that, however in that time, they had a style, a way of playing etc, win or lose they were building. Jose did well in the first season, bought well but he has not built on a good start, he has not developed the playing style one bit, he has loads of quality at his disposal, ddg, martial, rashford, sanchez, mata, pogba, shaw (I still hold belief that he is the best left back in the country), bailly, lukaku and then there are some solid players he has at his disposal too such as jones, Valencia, lingard, Herrera Unlike the previous 2 managers, at least with Jose you can see that there’s an actual thought-of plan with the players he has purchased. But I agree, it has definitely been a blessing and a curse for him, as the horrible playing style is impossible to justify with the talent at his disposal.

The cup winners cup was a big deal back then. Kind of forgotten about these days. Aberdeen winning it under Ferguson was cobsidered a miracle from what i understand. It was. It was a huge step in the development of that team as well. It gave us the confidence to trade punches with the big boys, the players looked better, we attracted better players and it allowed us to push on and we should have won the league the next season (injuries and fixture backlog killed us). You know, like last years Europa was supposed to.

I don't know where they get this, but it's in the Telegraph. This is so ancient in terms of psychology in team sport! It's also has mixed results, he lost the dressing room in Madrid and Chelsea, with this shit Man Utd players stunned by Jose Mourinho's 'bullying' of Luke Shaw Luke Shaw’s Manchester United team-mates were left stunned and angry after Jose Mourinho’s latest humiliation of the defender. Shaw was surprisingly hauled off at half-time in the win over Brighton to leave many United players dumbfounded, in the latest setback to the England international’s Old Trafford career. It is understood that some United stars even believe Shaw is being “bullied” by his manager and the defender is facing an increasingly bleak future while Mourinho remains in charge. Mourinho was seen shouting at Shaw during the first half before substituting him at the break, later insisting he wanted his team “to defend better”. www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/03/18/man-utd-players-stunned-jose-mourinhos-bullying-luke-shaw/
