The players were never gonna get up for this game in my opinion. I thought we would struggle tonight, not with Brighton but with attitude. We will probably finish 2nd or at worst third. This season has been disappointing and I don't see us getting to the level we need to be at without a massive transfer window in the summer. *another massive transfer window Unfortunately yes, we have a lot of shit in this squad. We need another big window and this time hopefully we sign the players we actually need. Either that or we hire someone who can improve this lot. I don't think there's one area of the team, defence, midfield or upfront that doesn't need strengthening. Our back four consists of two makeshift full backs and there's a mistake waiting to happen in any central defender we pick.

He's won every trophy bar the Champions league with us. I just don’t get what you’re getting out of this Karna. I respect your right to an opinion and without opinions this place would be boring. As someone who defended Rooney on here for years but ultimately came to the conclusion i was very wrong i would strongly recommend taking a step back. Are you defending Jose because you feel cornered or do you genuinely believe he’s going to change? I just can’t believe you are enjoying the way we play football and the baffling choices the man makes at times. Where the fuck am I defending Jose? There are some on here getting out the violins for De Gea. Maybe he should join a team who are roughly as many points behind their league winners as we are then ? Oh I forgot they are in the CL final against a team who are 5 points behind us with 2 games to go . It's the same tired narrative on here, any excuse to accuse me of being a Jose superfan or whatever other lame shit is available. De Gea has won everything expect a CL. Fergie won 2 in 26 years even with some amazing teams. It's not a given. It almost sounds like we have him tied up and held captive the way some talk about his time here.

I mean unless I’ve been misreading your posts for the past few months you seem to go out your way to defend him. Not looking to get in an argument but that’s the impression I’m getting and i think many others are.

I’d also add no one on here expected to win the champions league we just wanted to play a big team in the last 8.

No what you are doing is going along with those who want to find anything they can in my comments to follow a narrative that the man can do no wrong in my eyes. I don't go along with the fan favourites either which loses me brownie points as well. After the absolute state we were in after mismanagement my expectations have been dashed and i not going to get all hysterical on a match day thread as it solves nothing.

Sorry guys but once again Martial and Rashford just not good enough. The Manager’s comments after the game are aimed at these two. Wouldn’t be surprised if they both left at the end of the season.

I can think for my myself pal as I’m sure many can attest to given my many England rants on here. I just don’t see what you’re seeing I’m afraid, i wish i did.

Jose just said “We are probably not as good as people think we are individually.”
Didn’t he say after City that we were better than people thought?

The same player who we stood by when he was having a difficult first season and getting slated by the press? I get your point, but he’s stood by us being crap for five seasons now so I’d say that debt is paid. Also keep in mind that during this period De Gea has turned down playing with the best player in the world (if not the best player in the history of the game). De Gea deserves to be playing with ballers. There's De Gea, taking his place in goal and looking up to see not Kroos, not Modric, not Ronaldo, but Fellaini. In context, De Gea's loyalty has been stunning, almost embarrassing.

But he referred to individuals which was obviously a dig at those who let themselves down tonight. Imo we have too many individuals which is the difference between us and the likes of Pool and Spurs. They play better as a team despite having so called inferior players.

We are fucking Manchester United not some tin pot team who flucked a few trophies along the way and are lucky to entrap a world class player. He's also paid a nice fat pay cheque for the privilege.

Yorkie on JM's influence: Dwight Yorke has launched a stinging attack on Manchester United's style of play under Jose Mourinho and claimed they would win the title with Pep Guardiola. Mourinho insisted before Friday's trip to Brighton that he had no problem with David de Gea being United's Player of the Year for the fourth time in five seasons - despite admitting last year that 'something is wrong' if the goalkeeper gets the award. But Yorke, a key member of the swashbuckling Treble winners of 1999 who now works as a United ambassador, compared Mourinho unfavourably to Manchester City boss Guardiola and claimed the Portuguese is not being true to the club's attacking traditions. 'Look on the blue half of Manchester,' said Yorke. 'Don't tell me those players are so far superior to the players we have. We've got a very strong attacking line-up. The difference is they've got a manager who thinks positive and plays attacking football. We have a manager who wants to win 1-0 and be defensive.' Asked by Dubai Eye radio station if United would win the league and score 100 goals like City with Guardiola in charge, Yorke said: 'I think they would definitely win the league, because he's on the front foot. He's playing attacking football.' United striker Romelu Lukaku will miss Friday night's game as he receives treatment on an ankle injury, but he is expected to be fit for the FA Cup final against Chelsea on May 19. Meanwhile, Mourinho remains hopeful that Marouane Fellaini will sign a new contract. 'I'm still positive,' he said. 'The offer he has now on the table is a better offer than he had six or eight months ago. It's a process. But if he leaves, so be it.' Dwight Yorke thought Giggs should be given the job after Van Gaal. May as well get his views on parenthood while you're at it. Pep would cull most of this squad, it's naive to think otherwise.

He's also paid a nice fat pay cheque for the privilege. And he would play for free at Real Madrid, the first club to win the Decima? Make some fucking sense! Or maybe he wants to stay? Strange for some to think that's possible. Ronaldo left us to go there at our peak, we were better than Madrid at that point.

A few do not have the skill required to wear the shirt - Tree, Darmian, Blind, Rojo. It seems that the rest have all shown the individual skill required. Could be that the 3 CM are not allowed to run beyond the CF and the fullbacks are not allowed to cross half field - until United are a goal down. The hiring the new guy that can bring a more attack oriented philosophy is probably the smart move. After all, Sir Alex is a prime example of what a sound philosophy coupled with an iron will desire to win can accomplish with “a lot of shit in the squad.”

If he has better individuals, but other teams are doing better overall, that must primarily come down to his work in constructing the team no?
