I'm sorry but I'm not buying the being taught to pass sidewards and backwards either. You don't get 2nd by being completely shite.

Fred looks forward first, then tends to lay the ball off to the wing or the defense. Pogba did the same thing when he first arrived. Most movement forward and occasionally sideways. Now we see Pogba cycle the ball sideways and backwards consistently. Its almost like the front 3 are standing still and the rest are trapped in their defensive position. Rarely do you see the midfield run beyond the front 3 and even rarer do you see the full back overlap.

I point this out because the new players come in with a drive to move forward quickly. And Fred is no exception. However, by the end of the season, its all sideways and backwards until a hoof up top from De Gea or one of the CB.

I look forward to when these guys are allowed to run beyond their defensive position. You can see the quality in the individual player.

I created the last competitive match thread, and I'm still smarting that my streak ended (9 wins, 1 loss for 17/18 match day threads I think, but the loss was the cup final).
