I think we could have signed him from Tottenham if we'd taken some of the money we wasted on Onana and Mount and added it to the £60m or so we paid for Hojlund. If we'd presented Tottenham with an offer of £120m and made it very public then Levy would have been overruled by the Tottenham Board as Bayern were only offering around £80m. But we never really tried and just assumed he was heading to Bayern and Tottenham wouldn't sell to us. He might have joined them anyway as he was desperate for trophies. But we will never know for sure.
It wouldn't have solved all our problems. But Kane really is a fantastic player. Great goal-scorer but also great at link up play. And he'd have helped keep us in top 4 while we refreshed the rest of our squad. Then again he could have succumbed to the injury curse and given the greater demands of the Premier League it might have been a Van Persie scenario except that instead of getting a title win we might have just snuck into top 4. And if we only got a season or two out of him a transfer fee of over £100m would have made little sense.
Anyway there will be other players. And once we've done the initial rebuild there will come a point where spending big on an established world class player will make sense.

Don't do it to yourselves. Levy would commit seppuku before selling us Kane.

Can we give Leverkusen whatever they want for Wirtz?

I don't even pretend to understand what the fuck the champions league is now. Both the CL and the europa should be straight knock out with total random draws and no country protection.

I don't even pretend to understand what the fuck the champions league is now. I’d completely lost interest in it ages ago. Just doesn’t carry the same prestige any more and isn’t must-watch until the semi’s or even the final in recent years. As far as British viewership goes, it took a massive hit moving to BT Sports after years of being between ITV and Sky. Football is also really saturated now. When I was younger you’d be buzzing if there was a Juve game on ITV as you rarely got a chance to see Del Piero or Nedved etc outside of maybe Football Italia. Now you can see every single goal as it happens on social media.

Fuck seedings off too. Real and City first round? Tough. One's got to go. Hell, even fuck off the qualifiers too, see what a team from Macedonia can do in a proper, straight, one off cup competition.

I don't even pretend to understand what the fuck the champions league is now. It's not that difficult. You play 8 games, never the same team twice. In theory it's a belter idea, but in practice you get a week like this week, were there's one glamour tie in Milan vs Liverpool, but the gap between those two teams is so large, you knew the Scouse would canter.

You say that. But I bet most of them would be mediocre playing for us under Erik.
The manager does make a huge difference. So it is all well and good that INEOS have already improved the recruitment process. But until we have the right manager we aren't going to get the best out of those players or get them combining effectively as a team. And that is what is lacking really. We have quite a few matchwinners who can bail us out and get us results e.g. Bruno, Garnacho, Rashers, Amad. But I can recall very few good team performances. But under Emery week in and week out Villa are a good team that despite lacking star quality get results.

Not a chance some of this lot would survive the hairdryer treatment without crying on social media or pulling the mental health card. Their mentalities aren't strong enough, we've seen this with the last few managers. There's no fire in their bellies, they know that if they don't like something and wait long enough they'll get a reset under a new manager. It's happened several times already. I hate that we're back at this point again.
