You say that. But I bet most of them would be mediocre playing for us under Erik. The manager does make a huge difference. So it is all well and good that INEOS have already improved the recruitment process. But until we have the right manager we aren't going to get the best out of those players or get them combining effectively as a team. And that is what is lacking really. We have quite a few matchwinners who can bail us out and get us results e.g. Bruno, Garnacho, Rashers, Amad. But I can recall very few good team performances. But under Emery week in and week out Villa are a good team that despite lacking star quality get results. Imo half of this lot would be mediocre under Fergie. Not a chance some of this lot would survive the hairdryer treatment without crying on social media or pulling the mental health card. Their mentalities aren't strong enough, we've seen this with the last few managers. There's no fire in their bellies, they know that if they don't like something and wait long enough they'll get a reset under a new manager. It's happened several times already. I hate that we're back at this point again. They would not be mediocre under Ferguson. They would either get in line or be sold.

It's mad that a 85m player will only be remembered and known during his time at the club for one but of skill that ended up doing nothing. Sums him up really.

Without exaggeration, it’s the best thing he’s done. Can remember Kanchelskis standing on the ball and doing a salute. Was pointless but everyone loved it at the time. He did that other one as well where he just jumped and span round with the ball in front of him like a looney. Was proper funny. The big difference is that Kanchelskis wasn’t shite. That’s why you’re fine with it. Football has become too efficient and joyless. Showboating is great. I was so excited when Ronaldo made his debut against Bolton and his legs were flying everywhere. I’d never seen anything like it. Antony’s spin is great craic. Bet the Ajax fans loved it. When they were winning games and he was playing well. But we’re not winning and Antony is fucking rubbish. So you can’t get behind it.

If Ronaldinho had done it for no reason, it would have been replayed over and over. Kids would’ve been spending 18hrs downloading a 4sec clip of it on Kazaa. But it wasn’t Ronaldinho. It was Antony, who is a bag of wank. Anyway, there’s still a place in the game for decent players doing pointless things for entertainment purposes is what I’m getting at.

Villa have been class tonight. Not a hope in hell are we getting anything against that lot on Sunday. You’d have half of their side at least. Emery Martínez Digne Onana Teilemens Watkins Duran Bailey Rogers I remember vividly being told Onana wasn’t anywhere near good enough for Utd before Villa bought him. The fact that he’s bossing the likes of Bayern now is conveniently forgotten. He’ll absolutely destroy our midfield on Sunday.

In fairness Everton would have wanted double what Aston Villa paid for Onana if we'd come calling. So I doubt we'd have been able to get him at a good price.

Mbappe has thrown that team out of balance. They needed a real #9 instead they’re shoehorning a winger up front.

Now we know why they play Rodri every week. Sporting took them apart on the break.
