Martial in his first season was probably as good as any season Nani had. I don't know who's to blame for form the last two seasons but he was a hell if a talent. If peak Nani was dropped in our team now though he'd be our best player. There was one season not long after Ronnie left where Nani was just so good and contributed massively to our results. Martial has potential but as of yet isn't at Nani at his peak imo. He would replace any of our current options at his best. I can overlook him kicking it into row Z over some of the hair tearing performances of our current bunch. If I remember correctly that positive run of form ended when Carragher tried to cut his leg off. I think that Nani was largely an incredibly frustrating player (especially before we sold Ronaldo), he had everything it took to become a world-beater but it never 'clicked' for him the same way it did for Ronaldo. Also, comparing Nani to Martial is just wrong - they are very different types of players who dealt/deal with two completely different circumstances here. One was a more traditional winger, was given plenty of opportunities to impress, played under the best manager in history and was in a team of winners. The other was signed to play as a striker, was pushed to the wing to accommodate someone else, plays in a team that consists of too many egotistical mercenaries, played under two managers who are very likely past their best and hasn't received an actual run of games since 2015/6 (his one really good season). Martial under Ferguson would've been the envy of all of Europe.

i remember Nani scoring an absolute wonder goal against these, in the league cup I think it was, to then fuck about with it in the last minute for us to lose. completely summed him up that game. anyways, im going hiking in the lake district instead of watching this. never done that before. i cant bare wasting a chance to enjoy my weekend for these again. they need to regain my trust and support. Hey! We'll be hiking in the Yorkshire Dales! As you say, probably better than watching this lot right now...

Wow! The total lack of activity on this site shows the level of apathy that we have descended into... When I just looked, there were only two members online and one of them was me!! Personally I'm working 8:30am to 5pm, Mon to Fri, but I do try to get on to the forum (usually on the private web page of my browser on my work computer) ! People could be working, out for the day, etc, etc..

By the way, the game is on Sky Sports, and don't forget lunchtime kick off on Saturday, 12:30 BST.
Don't arrive on the thread at 2:45pm tomorrow expecting a 3pm kick-off! 😂

3 wins out of 20 against Chelsea I believe?
No wonder there's not much optimism and activity on here.

Chelsea are a horrible club, but Sarri is such a likeable guy.

Can someone explain to me how you could be positive about this game?
Everything that usually happens in this fixture not to mention how we are playing will have to be turned on its head.

Love the look of that side.
Dalot in for Young and that's close to peak.
Would probably prefer a midfield of Matic, Fred and Pogba, but it looks an attacking setup!

Not happy about Young being anywhere near the team sheet, standards at an all time low.

Not that it’ll matter but that’s a pretty good side he’s selected.
