Its sad seeing how far Jones has fallen. I was excited when we first signed him from Blackburn and he showed great potential but unfortunately now he's the butt of many jokes. Hopefully he salvages his career elsewhere. I wonder if that spell as a midfielder did more harm than good TBH. Had he got more game time next to an established defender such as Vidic or Ferdinand rather than being deployed to do a job would he have benefited more?

He would've been an interesting option in midfield for us. From what I recall he looked pretty decent playing that role when asked upon.

He put in a cracking shift in midfield against Madrid away I think. Probably his best performance for us, maybe alongside that game against Everton when he did a job on Fellaini. Also in midfield. I can see a theme emerging.

Phil (glass man) Jones will never last in any position. He is always hurt.

With his injury problems there's no way he could do any of the more mobile positions long term. Chronic shin splits, thrombosis in his calf, a reoccurring hamstring injury, on top of all the other injury issues. The lad is crazy unlucky. All heart though.
