Anyway, it's a joyous feeling to be winding up opposition fans again and having them scrambling for the stats to try and prove why they should've beat us.

Crazy how differently people can see a game. Some (elsewhere) are acting like they bossed us for 90 minutes when in fact the game as a whole was relatively close. Dave was awesome and he did indeed make 11 saves but Lloris hardly had a quiet afternoon making 7 saves himself including a couple of crackers. I think they slightly edged it overall but it was us pulling off our plan initially that made Tottenham have to throw everything at us. Another keeper and we'd be in trouble but he's ours so you get that. It's why the commentators loved the game so much, there was so many things going on you could view it in so many different ways. Only one stat counts though.

I would've preferred them to have a few less chances of course but I was kind of expecting a 2nd half like that.
I think the game was very close overall. Spurs probably deserved a point for their 2nd half performance but I don't think it was that much of an injustice that they got nothing if you look at the game as a whole.

Brighton then Burnley at home, followed by Leicester then Fulham away. Ole's going to win his first 9 league games! If he then goes on to beat the scum in his 10th game, we may as well just name a stand after him now.

The thing about when Fergie was manager was that it didn't matter how the game went, if we won then I always thought we deserved to win because we could win in all kinds of different ways with all kinds of different players on the pitch against all teams. I feel a bit like that after this game.

That was probably the 62% possession they had influencing them. Or their 21 shots to our 13. Or maybe their 7 corners to our 4. Fair fucks if we were on the other side of this we would be pointing to those same stats and we'd be livid.

Guess I’m staring the Brighton thread? At the time of me quoting this, 22 people liked this comment. Don't think I've ever seen so many likes

Fair fucks if we were on the other side of this we would be pointing to those same stats and we'd be livid. 21 shots but only 11 on target, we had 8 on target. They had a good few that were pot shots from distance that never troubled Dave.
Also, the corner stats are hardly that telling, only a difference of 3 and I've seen sides dominate games and get less corners than the opposition. Largely an irrelevant stat.
Finally, didn't Van Gaal prove that possession isn't everything?
Circumstance always alters stats. Spurs were chasing the game so were bound to have more of the ball and more attempts in that 2nd half. If they'd have found an equaliser early in the half, the game could've swung again and they probably wouldn't have gone on to create as many chances as they did for the rest of the game.
Yep we rode our luck in the 2nd half but what I saw from us for the most part was an excellent away performance against another top 6 side full of quality and guts. It certainly wasn't the 90 minute bashing from Spurs that some are making out it was.
