Are these actually capable of translating what we so last night to constructive measures? Are they actually interested in getting us any higher than just making the top 4? We’ll find out soon enough. In 3 out of the last 4 summer windows we’ve spent a lot of money. Not the most money but large chunks. Not all of it well but still. For me last summer is the key. Was it because the board thought giving it to an increasingly toxic manager was a waste or was it more worrying than that? Hopefully it’s because they didn’t want to give any more to Jose. Anything else and it’s difficult to see a way out of this mess. As much as the board and Ed deserve to be shat on and criticized, there is some sense to the argument that they didn’t want to further back Jose. Failing to get a CB was inexcusable but then they were right on Perisic. My feeling is they will back Ole if he’s named manager. It’s clear though we don’t have an unlimited budget like Ed wanted us to believe so the signings need to be spot on. And again that brings us back on the need for a DOF.

Of course we can't compete with the oil clubs but making do isn't an option either. I wouldn't be surprised if Wolves don't break into the top 6 sooner rather than later. There are a few teams just behind us who are more than capable especially if they are outspending us! We have a good enough team for top 4 but if some of our better players decide they have more ambition than that then we are well and truly screwed. Only a matter of time before Riola starts agitating for more lunch money!

It's hard to believe how fans like us can see the problems we have that have been around for years yet they have not been addressed?
The CB issue, better midfield players needed, the right wing..why is Sanchez not being tried more on the right because he sure as fuck can't be any worse than he's been on the left.

You don't win a PL with a bad defence never mind a CL . We've watched how many years of Pool failing with a poor defence ?

So they have a super rich owner and United have to pay the bill for their fans? Maybe we should repay the favour over there?

Hopefully the silver lining here is that Sanchez is surplus to requirements. You could tell that OGS was disappointed. To his core. Shifting Sanchez will not be easy, however, it is the first step needed to balance the squad. And Bailly was a shadow last night. Close but not close enough. So many poor positions and a complete lack of urgency to win the ball in the box. The entire defense was scared of Mbappes speed. It showed in the space they left him after he dropped back to pick up simple passes. Hopefully Ed can take the Sanchez wage and make a happy camper out of Toby and a RW.

The only way to sell Sanchez is to get him to agree to go to China, which he won’t. The most likely scenario is a loan deal. I can see the Milan clubs having interest but then we’d also likely have to subsidize a big portion of his wages to make that happen. It’s a shite situation all around.

Not sure if the glass houses is aimed at me, I guess so...I don't believe I have banged on at every opportunity about Sanchez, Lukaku and the negative Jose...maybe you will do a search and find some stuff but I try not to keep saying the same thing over and over..especially when it is self evident... As it happens, I agree with you but I did that the first time you wrote it. Writing it another hundred times doesn't make me agree any more... But equally I get exasperated when I go to the Transfer thread and continually see comments about all these great prospects we should sign but the reality is there’s a good chance 95 % aren’t happening because we have a bloated squad we refuse to address which hinders our transfer activity! So some clearly aren’t getting it? Until we shift the 💩 we will continue to be a club flirting with the 6 club alliance and very little else. Ryan Sessegnon is a left sided player to my knowledge but only a few days ago I read that we should sign him because he’s a great prospect. We can’t even buy players for the positions we need never mind finding a place for a player who would be in Martial’s role. If he is bought as competition for him then that’s different but we all know the gimps aren’t going to spend that kind of money for 2 players to slug it out for the left side. I agree entirely with your post... The only thing about transfers is that I guess we all have an inner muppet who wants this or that great prospect... I know that the gimps may not give us the funds required but I live in hope as they have shelled out quite a lot in the past, even breaking the existing world record for Pogba... We just have to spend the money in the positions that we need more quality...

I don't care where he goes, I just don't want to see him anywhere near the first team ever again. Relegate him to the reserves if we have to, and hive his minutes to one of the young lads.

Manchester United and Paris St Germain have been charged by UEFA following Tuesday night's Champions League clash between the clubs at Old Trafford.
United have been charged with throwing objects and blocking stairways, PSG with throwing objects, setting off fireworks, acts of damage and crowd disturbance.
A beer bottle was thrown from the crowd towards PSG's former United winger Angel Di Maria in the second half of the last-16 first leg, with the Argentinian responding by picking it up and seemingly pretending to take a swig from it.
It has been reported that a bottle of water was subsequently thrown Di Maria's way as well, and an item landed at the feet of United full-back Luke Shaw in the first half of the game, which the visitors won 2-0.
The case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on February 28.

The OT crowd is too often too fucking passive and nice. Yeah, yeah wrong way to go about it yadda yadda. Football is tribal. We should act like it more.

In an email sent out by the official site, they had a quote from Ole that is worlds apart from what Jose would have said. To me it looks like Ole is offering support for two players who came on and did not shine, he's not throwing any player to the wolves, and he's not pretending it's falling apart because no one listened to him.
With more big games on the horizon, starting with the Emirates FA Cup fifth-round clash at Chelsea next Monday and the next Premier League outing against Liverpool at Old Trafford on 24 February, there must be concern about the availability of two key members of Ole's squad. “You can't give that [the injuries] as a reason [why we lost] because we have players like Mata and Sanchez to come on and they're quality players,” Solskjaer told BT Sport. “But, of course, Jesse and Anthony, they give us something. Let’s hope they’re not too serious. They’re muscle injuries, so we’ll just have to wait a couple of days."
