Thankfully didn't watch the game and based on you guys, couldn't give a fuck about the highlights. Sounds like another dreadful one. Shouldn't have given Ole the job so early in my opinion. What's happening now is exactly what I thought was going to happen. Back to it being a chore to watch us then. Typical of this ownership though. I can’t see us getting top 4 either. 2 wins 1 defeat and 2 draws imo.

Yesterday was an awful performance, I can't see us getting top 4 now tbh, and I feel sorry for Ole now. Yet another manager having to put up with that twat Woodward. Pogfraud needs to go as well, if Ole is given free reign to manage his squad that's a given imo. I'd jack Martial in as well, 4 years of "he's got great potential" frankly means fuck all.

Yesterday was dire but 3 points are 3 points. Our PL fixture list for the rest of the season: Everton (A) City (H) Chelsea (H) Huddersfield (A) Cardiff (H) 12 points and we get top 4 I think. If we come out of our next 3 - all tough games - with 6, then we'll be favourites for top 4. It requires Arsenal and Chelsea to drop points, but both have Europa commitments and Arsenal have a few away games I expect they'll struggle with, whilst Chelsea are inconsistent. That will require us to play better than yesterday of course. I think we can, but I don't know if we will. Aside from the Rents, the key game is at Goodison imo. Win that and I think we’re in decent enough nick. They lost to Fulham yesterday 2-0 FFS, but you can bet they will play like demons in their cup final against us

We have so many players that ‘on a good day’ are spectacular to watch. Well, that just ain’t good enough - you don’t win titles by playing well once every couple of games, you win them by being consistent from start to finish.
This sort of makes me appreciate Rojo a little bit - he’s our most consistent player. Yes, he’s consistently bad, but at least he’s consistent!

It’s not entirely in our hands and we’re playing very very poorly. I’m also getting sick of this “top 4 trophy” as our goal and benchmark for success post-Fergie - you can’t get more Arsenal than this. Maybe the biggest positive for having Ole as our manager is that he knows that top 4 is bullshit and winning the league is the actual goal.

Watford and West Ham came to OT wearing flip-flops and still outplayed us for significant chunks of the game. I doubt Everton need to "raise their game" in order to beat that shower we saw last night.

I think there is an element of fitness in a lot of these performances in the last few weeks there is some fatigue setting in. You probably even saw it with Barca last Wednesday and they rested every single outfield player Yesterday. I know there are bigger issues to be addressed. There are some players in that squad who need a kick up the arse and some who are just nowhere near the level to compete, but the drop in form from the first 11-14 games is staggering really.
The big change from the new management was the tempo and the running. There was a huge uptick in that from Mourinho's time and it has probably caught up with a large amount of the squad/team, coming into the final hurdle. It's also a factor in that sudden injury boom that hit us like a plague.. Mata, Matic, Herrera, Martial, Rashford all at once around that Liverpool game.
You ask a team to play a completely different higher tempo all of sudden midway through a season and at some point they will hit a wall and some players did. Ole made some comments about Matic and Herrera's age as well back then in an interview
Last years preseason was a shit show as well for a few reasons. I think we have seen what could be, with the right players in and the wrong ones out, a much better preseason and more time with this coaching team
The big X factor is Ed, the Glazers and recruitment, which is a lottery under Woodward

I'm not making any excuses, but if you saw that game against Fulham who are atrocious, you would argue that Everton is a gimme, but it's a tricky game, because there will be a cup final atmosphere there for us as usual! I'm just mocking them really, we still have to win it

No one on here. To me it seems like every season post-Fergie reached a point where the general consensus was that if we finish in the top 4 it should be considered a decent/good season, instead of being extremely vocal and outraged at our inability to challenge for the title. You’d expect that we’d treat this issue the same way Real Madrid fans do - zero tolerance and demand that whoever is in charge fix it immediately. Instead, we’re fast approaching the end of the 6th season of us not being even close to really challenging for the title.
