Unless you are exceptional at penalties, if you’re not a forward then you don’t take the penalties. You want your strikers getting goals, a peno is almost a free hit. Particularly when we have two young ones who need all the goals they can get. Bruce, Lampard were exceptions. I've seen him miss two live (vs. Everton and he scored the rebound, vs. Southampton when the game was basically over and we were winning). Both times I remember thinking 'we have to get him off pens - or to cut out the shit, because he should be able to hit them - before it genuinely costs us.' And now it really has.

Apart from missing the penalty what did we actually create in the second half? Nothing much clear cut.. A lot of players were leggy by 65 and Lingard and James should have been addressed much earlier They had all week to rest and prep for the game. I don't understand how you could be tired after an hour. That would worry me.

Bebe level cameo from Mata tonight. 3 year contract though... and he'll be there until the end 1+1 I thought

Fuck me that really is fantastic from Neves. Fucking sign him.
(Should still have not allowed him to have that space though.)

Yeah, but he's ordinary really does it for a bit and is limited in what he does with the ball when he gets forward. He'll never be a great full back and again maybe my standards are high based on what we have had in the past your standards seem to be based on the couple of moments he fucks up something or makes a mistake. slightly similar to karma turning up after not winning (countdown startgame.s...) a Yeah not really though bit of a fucking dumb statement in relation to an opinion on a player. It's based on his contribution for what 4 years now.. I said it many times and at the start of the season in the transfer window, that he needed a good young player to push him. He's limited

2 points dropped. Don't let Pogba take pens. I'm annoyed about that. What I’m annoyed about is that we can’t clarify who takes the penalties within the squad. I mean how hard can that be? Has Ole asked them to decide amongst themselves, if that’s the case there’s no attention to detail because surely a designated penalty taker is a given in most top teams. Can you imagine Fergie and the likes of Roy Keane, etc not knowing who takes the penalties?? Downright ridiculous.

First time Shaw got exposed continuously as the weakest of the back 4. At least that peno miss didn’t have the run up, he did hit it with power, unlucky. Actually looked like it meant something that he missed. Also liked Martial hold up play. Neves will be Neves. Bollocks about Shaw. Complete bollocks. ? Right back at ya. Spotted plenty of instances where his opposite partner AWB would have initiated a challenge, where as Shaw was only looking not to get beat and put minimal pressure on. I love Shaw but he is now the weakest defender of the 4, is that any argument? ...but I know it will be

1-1 isn't a bad result, it's better than we managed there last season (twice), but it could/should have been more, which is obviously frustrating.
Pogba has to stop taking pens, simple as that. 3 missed last season and now one this in only the 2nd game. He is bang average at them. If Rash took all the pens last season he would have had a 20 goal season under his belt already and the "Is he capable of being a 20+ striker" question would have already been answered.
I'm confident that our improved defence will see us have a better season than last year, baring injuries of course. We probably lose that game today if we have Young and Smalling/Jones/Rojo in the starting 11, so technically it's a point gained, in a way; but still massively missing something in the centre of the pitch and RW. James has blistering pace but little understanding of what to do with it. All the other RW options are shite (Mata and Lingard offer nothing out there, Rashford and Martial not comfortable on that side, Chong looks better on the left also, Greenwood needs games up top not shunted in to a problem position, and he's only bloody 17).
Hopefully if top 4 is secured this season (I'm confident it will be), then next summer Neves and Sancho have the be the main targets, whatever the price. Get those two in and the team is a serious threat again.

Ole discussing how second half was sloppier. Why didn't you change things then?

Ole says it's up to Rashford and Pogba to decide who takes penalties. Fucking stupid.

Last year Liverpools full backs were involved/assisted in 23 goals.
Shaw is limited especially for a team like us that needs more from the full backs.. It doesn't mean he's shit, but he is 5.5/10 no more and never will be
