The next game is the key. If Ole drops him, great. If he doesn’t then he’s blind. Who do you play at 10? Pogba (sort of 10) Mata Gomes

Pogba (sort of 10) Mata Gomes Mata can't run the length of the pitch, pogba being there causes bigger problems. Gomes I agree with but he probably needs to share it.

A number 10 doesn’t need to run the length of the pitch (which Mata can do anyway) Pogba playing closer to goal should give us more solidity actually.

What top manager is going to want anything to do with us now? Honestly? Managers aren’t stupid, they talk and the word has to be out- Utd are poison at present. Agreed mate, this is the quandary we are in. Sack Ole we are in a worse position, stick with him and these results continue its equally as bad. I don’t necessarily buy into this. The general make-up of most managers is that that will genuinely believe they could turn things around and would savour the opportunity to be first one to do it after Sir Alex. Jose had no problem going behind LVG’s back and negotiating for the job. That’s just one example. Allegri is out there as an option but there has been such a gross overreaction to implementing a “culture shift” at the club that they may view his tactics as not being aligned with our traditions. Ancelotti, though there’s a good argument that he’s done and the underwhelming Laurent Blanc also an option. Nagalesmann of Leipzig is an intriguing option.

Adding to my previous post, the scousers had the dumb ass blind luck of getting Klopp at his low point when you could argue they weren’t a very intriguing option either.

Surely there’d be more protection for him for when he fannies on and loses the ball. And he’s our only creative player, so having him further forward would help. When Ole first came in, Pogba was playing higher up and it really worked.

If only the Scouse and City were shit too this would be easier to take.

We talked about it on here but the press didn’t seem to pick up on it- bar the very early years, Jose has won the league at every club he’s managed. Including La Liga where he toppled a team with legitimate claims to being one of the best clubs in history. Except one. United. That is highly revelatory. Also bear in mind that this man, who has won the treble and is the last man to win the CL outside of England/Spain/Italy/Germany with Porto, has explicitly said that taking us to 2nd is his greatest achievement.

I think the most disturbing thing about the past few years is that I’m no longer shocked by our poor results. We are an absolute joke of a club at the moment. This is the key for me. A loss under Fergie was usually devastating because the stakes were so high, we were always in a title race and you never knew if it was going to be costly. In work myself and the other Utd fans would stew for days after a defeat. It’s amazing how quickly the air of invincibility can disappear if you let it. That idiot Moyes started it but Woodward has let it, the Glazers have let it. What takes decades can be lost in a matter of months. I don’t want to be overly dramatic but it’s similar to the last days of the Roman Empire. Previously subservient enemies sense weakness and pounce, whereas before they wouldn’t have dared. You have teams like Palace, Newcastle, Soton all coming to OT and having a proper go when previously they’d hope to get out without getting a hiding. This period will be something we’ll read about for years. I’ve spoken to my old man about the relegation period and he said it was something you’d never even believe was possible because we’d been so strong but it was a gradual thing, we didn’t go from 1st to last in a year, it was the eroding of values, the wrong managerial appointments, players not being replaced which culminated in the unthinkable. I don’t think we’ll get relegated but it doesn’t take much to see us finishing 8th or 9th this year in all honesty. And for a club like Utd, that’s as close as we should ever get. True, Stewart. As I say, Ogden said on Sky this morning that he thinks we’ll finish outside of the top six. Also, 5 members on here voted that we’ll finish 8th or lower in our poll. If there’s more shit-shows over the course of the season, they actually might not be that far off in reality, which is frightening long term. You can bet that the gimps won’t bother to strengthen in January.

Mark Ogden just said on Sunday Supplement on Sky that he can see us dropping out of the top six. I don’t see that as a stretch. The top 3 are miles ahead. Arsenal, Chelsea, Leicester, Wolves, maybe Everton and Utd are fighting for one spot. If Everton’s signings click and if Jimenez starts to score more regularly for Wolves are they any worse than us? Chelsea have already show signs of improvement, their youngsters are clicking. They battered the Scousers in the Super Cup imo and it was a travesty they lost. And Arsenal for their faults have firepower which puts the cannon fodder away. They may not win the big games but they won’t lose at home to the likes of Palace very often. We can finish 4th or 7th and neither would be a huge surprise. I would be pleasantly surprised if we finish 4th.

It does solve it because Lingard wouldn't be playing. It only solves it if we're better. If we're not, what does it solve besides replacing one player who isn't good enough with another?
I'm getting drawn into a conversation about Lingard here. I don't like him, I don't think he's good enough and I don't want to see him start. The point I'm making is that we've played 3 games, Lingard has been shit in 2 of them and got taken off before the 60 minute mark in one of them. The criticism of Ole playing him too much seems premature and a little over the top for my money.
So, what you're saying is, you're Lingard's #1 Super Fan and believe he should start every game and play the full 90. Correct?

He went about it the wrong way clearly, but the man was trying to tell us something. I’m glad he got a great reception at the Chelsea game.
