I think each game is about roles. Footballers have different roles to play and for me Fred's last night was to disrupt play and break their rhythm. He did that with gusto. There always is a need for this type of player in the team who enjoys doing this. Even if he lost the ball, I don't mind because he played his role well. I agree about roles but not Fred. He was surely brought in to make penetrating attacking passes, no? Anything he does about breaking rhythm etc. McTominay can do better. And whilst it’s good to see Fred doing it, I don’t think it is his primary role most games (though perhaps it was for this specific one). He’s got to offer so much more on the ball IMO. FRED= United's shit scouting system and Woodward's chaotic tenure Stop over doing it guys and trying to make something that isn't there. We over payed by about 100% and he is mediocre at 27

Fred was fine if he's looked at through the lens of a squad player, not a 50million building block.
Fortunately for him, between rotation and inevitable injuries, he'll get plenty of chances to prove he's more than that. Or maybe fortunately for us in recouping some of that fee.

Yeah I agree, I'm not sure his ultimate role is breaking up play and keeping it safe, I thought he was more forward thinking than that. I think the reason he has reverted to this type of role is that he can't do it in this country, he's certainly ponderous in possession at times, or he has simply lost the confidence to try and affect the game further up the pitch. Not to beat this point further but if he’s lost confidence then a run of games might help. If not we off load him this summer.

That isn't the type of footballer Fred is and the football he enjoys as you say. Henry, Evra , Zambrotta, Bale, Pirlo, Mascherano, Schweinsteiger, Kompany, Valencia etc. I could name more but off the top of my head these players ended up playing different roles than what they started out. Same applies to Fred if he's willing. Which based on last night, he was.

Well he'll get the run of games due to our lack of options, so he should get the chance to regain his confidence if that is the case.

On a side note, whomever is in charge of our Brazilian scouting department needs a new pair of eyes. We seem to find the only ones who can’t pass or shoot.

It’s almost like we didn’t play the league leaders who were on a 17 game unbeaten streak while we were limited by injuries to key players yet we still didn’t lose. It's almost like we're a newly-promoted club happy with a point at home against Liverpool.

I really think Keane has a point re Kane. We legitimately can get him next season. His course in that club is run and I think he knows it. He could be the perfect type of striker for us. Nah mate. Scores too many goals by himself.

If you’re after anyone from Spurs it has to be Son. Brilliant player and works his arse off.

Keane in the discussion on which striker they should get "Kane, just get Harry Kane" Silence and everyone looking at him as if he was talking about a small team with no money or history Keane " What are you staring at" pause/glare "It's Man United you're talking about just get him" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You get all fired up and then you just remind yourself of Woodward and the Gimps
